It is only Big 2 at the moment unless something drastic happens in the future. 

I would agree with you only because of Smith's WC knock out exploits, otherwise Kohli has got him covered now

If Kohli can deliver us the Big Trophy in 2019 WC he will be firmly in the lead ahead of Smith IMO. After that I don't think he will relinquish his title as modern era's best batsman, there will be a finality to it.

Gollum you are a good poster but sorry to say you act like Pakistani posters from parosi forum or like Mike Holding as far as Kohli is concerned. First, Kohli will fail in England and he cant be considered a great batsman unless he conquer the mighty Anderson. He shut up everyone by scoring 400+ runs already with 2 tests to go. Now he has to win 2019 WC, then only he can surpass Smith? :cantstop:

 

I am not a Kohli fan either but lets be realistic. He is by far the best batsman and perhaps the most inspiring cricketer in the world. Even likes of Nasser Hussain, Michael Vaughan has said that recently in record. But  I absolutely love the way critics like you keep increasing the bar for him. What's next?? He needs to score against Anderson in Wimbledon turf in bitter cold snowy English afternoon? Give it a rest now bruv.

Bhai I don’t think he is acting like a Pakistani just his opinion just because he rates Smith higher than Kohli does not mean that he hates Kohli. It’s his choice that’s why we have forums isn’t it there might be difference of opinion but that doesn’t make him anti national brother.

When the main competitor is Steve Smith ofc the bar will be high.

 

His record in England was an anomaly, glad he corrected it. I did say earlier that if his overall average in Eng is low but he has just 1 outstanding series there would be no question marks over him. Now he has made amends and pushed his status much higher.

 

Coming to WC, that is the biggest tournament in shorter formats cricket with a rich history. Lets be honest here, JAMODIs have lost relevance for over a decade now. He was sub par in 2011 and 2015. Smith was outstanding in QF-SF-F of 2015 WC, something unprecedented. Kohli's only rival is Smith and so WC is important for him. I am not saying he has to win the WC, ultimately cricket is a team game and one man can't win it on his own. However if Kohli does what Sachin did in 1996/2003/2011 or if he has some high quality knocks in SF/F, even if we were to lose that would add an extra element to his resume. If he does either of that he will definitely surpass Smith, right now there is a question mark courtesy Kohli's performances in WC KO stage and overall WC record. 

 

I may be a a critic but want Kohli to do well, he is one of my favorite cricketers of all time. I am sure he will have that 1 good WC in either 2019 or 2023. I respect Smith greatly but IMO Kohli has a greater probability of finishing his career as undisputed best of his era. Smith's hand-eye will desert him at some point, moreover this 1 year ban will take a big mental toll on him.

Not sensationalising bhai my apologies not meant for you he was called that before over here when he said he rates Smith higher than Vk.I had that in mind so sorry it wasn’t meant for you brother
