Props to Prithvi for showing mental toughness and grabbing the opportunity with both hands! The kid did very well in T20 too despite his short height and lack of power. If he had fallen cheaply, Kohli would have banished him to the bench faster than the ball reaching the batting crease. We need young players with similar mindset. Just block out the demons inside the head and in the dressing room and bring your A game to the table. I hope Pant gets selected in the next match and shows the world what he is capable of.

Pant has barely played 4 t20 international so making comments based on his" that much" performance is not reasonable

Regarding Rahul ,yes he has only himself to be blamed ,

Im quite sure about Pant's mental.toughness once he gets used to the arena he will certainly feel that he belongs there and can dictate terms

Unfortunately for pant , I think he will struggle in Aus even on flatter pitches it offers little bounce and not ideal for players like Pant , especially batsmen lower down the order its not easy to clear the boundary .

Rahul has been sabotaged to accommodate  dostana be it Dhawan, Rayudu , Pant too as well for MS oldie with crap such as DK keeping or being dropped after 1 or 2 games, with Krunal showing a spark  trust me his days are numbered too to accommodate  Jadeja, we all saw how Sundar is almost obscure after winning man of the series in his first tournament. We have seen in the past Kuldeep being niggled for Chahal.

 

This team is run by bureaucrats and people with personal interests.

Nope . Common sense .

I hope they wont drop him cos of his failure and still persist with him .

 

Anyway personally I would have rested the likes of Rohit/Dhawan against easier opponents in past 1 year and opened with KL/Pant , could have eased them into lower order positions . Too late for that now .

but you cant blame the selectors. They have to go by what has been done in the build upto the WC. Knowing DK he will score heavily in build up and then flop at the tournament.

Yes, Prithvi, Pant and Rahul, All three need backing. But i believe it wont happen till wc-19. Once they are backed, Their mind will be clearer and only thing for them would be to bat more freely.

You still dont get it. For selectors the solution is Dhoni, Rahane and so on. Its not about best players. Its about ones who can do a PR justifiable job during wc-19

We are expecting too much from these 20-21 year old youngsters and expect them to perform from day one just because they have done well in FC cricket/IPL. 

 

The test 100 vs England settled Pant the test batsman. Needs that similar knock in T20s/ODIs to get back on track. Also, can the team management tell him "you are playing the next 5 T20s (2 vs WI and 3 in Aus)". Tell him this and see his confidence go up. Also, for god's sake give the gloves to him. DK has played enough as a specialist fielder. Lets not ruin a young keeper's evolution in shorter formats like we are.

Not us, it is Kohli who expects them to deliver like accomplished veterans right away or else he will throw them back to the bench.

All starts from the team management which believes in chopping and changing just far too much. All younger guys face the brunt while the oldies continues to be there. Even someone like Kuldeep has not been spared. I hope they do not drop Pant and play Shreyas Iyer in rest of the T20s.
