Nothing there to discuss.. He is overrated midget choker. If it wasn't for Mumbai politics he would have never made it back in those days. This guy doesn't stand a chance in this gen.

No dhoni in the list....

There is a reason why Sachin is not on the list. He was a steady eddy who got his scores but never really impacted any series in a big way.Inspite of being part of one of the most accomplished batting lineups for majority of career , he rarely imposed himself on a series. But he somehow has tag that he was carrying batting on his shoulders.

The Mumbai lobby only asked Sachin to target hitting 1 100 per series. Once he did that he was satisfied .... if they had asked him to instead score 500+ runs in a series, he could have got a few :dontknow:

We did not play any 5 test series in the 1990s. If that Aus tour to India in 1998 or even the England tour of India in 1993 was a 5 test series, we could have seen some 500+ scores.

many in the list took 3/4 tests to score 500..

few guys scored 700/800 runs in a 5 tests series :phehe:

4 tests maybe, but 3 tests is impossible, maybe Bradman but no one else apart from him. Sachin made 446 runs in that 1998 Aus tour, he had a good chance of getting 700 runs if that series was 5 tests.

When did Sachin start playing and when did Sachin end his career.Did he end his career in 1990s??

I read posts where some fans said he made 490 odd in one series and if he had played 1 test more, he could have got 500 runs, ignoring that one has to achieve a goal within set parameters. Playing one more test can help others get to 500 or have more 500 as well

His peak years were 1990s, just like Viv's peak years were from late 70s to mid 80s. Even Ali Cook got those big 500+ scores during his peak years.

So what, he played more test in 2000s than he did in 1990s, if he was not good enough to win his team matches , he should have quit and not hangon to score some meaningless records.

viv scored 829 runs in a 4 test series

gooch scored 752 runs vs india in a 3 match series ..

Yeah, even though Gooch got 752 runs it looks big due to his 333. But Viv's 829 runs is insane, even though the bowling attack was not great, 829 runs in foreign conditions in 4 tests is crazy.

But Sachin got those 446 runs in 3 tests against a high in confidence Shane Warne after the big Ashes win in 1997 and a pretty good bowler in Kasprowicz.
