The Dark Horse
We know where this test is going. Looking at the way he bats, and his first class record, he looks like he belongs here and is an absolute necessity in this team. Age 25, average of 60 in first-class. Impressive for India A. Captain
Looking at his FC stats, half century on Debut in England and the way he's batted here i'd say he's rightfully earned a place in the team for at least 10 tests. If Bewda/Koach try to bring back Rohit, then they should be investigated for conflict of interest. The Dark Horse, chewy and flamy 3 Link to comment
PBN
If I'm not mistaken he's played about half of his Ranji career in plate league with Hyderabad/Andhra. Though, the guy has stepped up in the last few years and has been impressive is he's made runs consistently whenever the opportunity has been offered either for India A, Duleep, or when playing against practice against touring teams. He's in good run making form for a couple of years now. Edited December 17, 2018 by PBN sandeep 1 Link to comment
coffee_rules
He needs more chances for sure, but he has to improve his batting against short pitch bowling. We cant have him and Rahane at 5 and 6. Also, who is coaching him not to move his feet His offside shots are generally with both feet planted. Link to comment
G_B_
i doubt he is opening material but can be a batter at 6 who also chips in with the ball. coffee_rules 1 Link to comment

GautiMaan
Yes needs to be backed fully I would also say that he deserves a shot in ODI's too.He has a power game and with his spin can fill the void in the ODI team. cowboysfan 1 Link to comment
sandeep
Saw the highlights, looked real good here in Sydney. Plus the fact that he can give you a few overs. Handy 6th batsman to have in the squad. Agarwal Shaw Pujara Kohli Vihari Pandya Rishabh Ash Jaddu Ishant Shami / Siraj Bumrah Link to comment
fineleg
He is #5 or 6 batsman and decent at it. Dont make him open the innings and screw him up. Link to comment
G_B_
I wonder if he opens in the second innings. Rahul is such a walking wicket even a 50 ball 10 run innings from Vihari will be more valuable than 10 edge runs and out Rahul. Link to comment

No he should not be in odis. Does not have the power game and we have much better options. Good in many ways if red ball spcialist, wil focus his technique on one discipline and rest nicley for the tests Looked good today, organised and compact. Disciplined. Poor v short ball but better today as pitch has less varibale bounce so when ducked it did bounce over him. ps Agarwal is must for odis as back up opener Link to comment
King Tendulkar
But 10 games is excessive lol Gets a series at home Good luck and go well Link to comment

Better play the guy with two digit first class games rather than single digit. It would be better if Gill plays a full Ranji season. Link to comment

IPL owners thick. Unless they want t20 opener to anchaor the innings Amla style then fair enough but he aint no power hitter. If want power etc his team mate at Andhra in Ricky Bui is the man and I would have him in odi set up or on radar at least Edited January 3, 2019 by King Tendulkar Link to comment
Pandya_Power
No power? Were people even watching the same game? His backfoot drives were something else. The frontfoot drives were always noticeable. Felt he was unlucky to find the fielder so often at the MCG. I think we have a real find here for the long-term #5 or #6 slot. He could be a member of the ODI squad if he develops the pull / hook shot. That is the one weakness so far. Link to comment
