What are you talking about, did you forget the humiliation in England or SA & let's not forget the depleted Aus side. You're bringing up SRT, do you even remember the opposition he faced & the teams we had back then :afraid:

Humiliation in Sa and England lol. Have you seen what dhoni did on previous tour. We competed very good. Should have won in both places. How many Indian captains won in Australia when aussies were rebuilding lol. The above poster was comparing captaincy of tendulkar. Tendulkar was poor captain compared to kohli. He didn’t know how to build and run the ship.

I dunno, you must have the numbers? We did however beat superior sides to this current lot in the past, including 2003, 2008 & arguably 1979 (81?) as well.

SRT had poorer resources compared to Kohli, look at the team he captained in 99 & the team he faced then come back to me. Brat has failed twice in 2 series vs Aus, this time they didn't even have their best batters. If not for Pujara we'd have lost here as well. It's clear Virat isn't the best possible calming influence in the middle, also if his captaincy doesn't change not only will we start losing at home, his record with the bat will tumble as well. Not too many players have captained good sides to consistent losses & done well with the bat.

Yeah, let's forget the stinking team building under Brat. For all the hoopla around him, he's made every batter & possibly bowler insecure in the test side. I mean WTF picks 40 odd random teams - except Brat of course.

He is a good test captain ,pace bowlers have flourished under him and we have seen brave bowling selections like 0laying 5 Pacers on greentops etc,he makes things happen in that format but in odis he has been found out somehow although his record is superb and he has won odi series almost everywhere in the world .

His biggest stupidity is team selection and not grooming young batsmen ,rather he has been anti young batsmen and mostly opted for TTFs

We had the devangiri express as well and dodda Ganesh.

Ya those super phaast juggernaut right. Tendulkar might have thought on those fast , bouncy abroad pitches they would be life threatening so din't unleash them.

Pace bowlers flourishing has nothing to do with captaincy, but the fact that for the first time India actually has good fast bowlers.

For probably the first time in its history, India probably has the best fast bowler in the world in any format, in Bunrah. I shan’t Sharma, who used to spearhead the Indian fast bowling attack, is now a marginal 3rd or 4th pick, despite the fact that he is a better bowler today, due to becoming mentally stronger, than he ever was.

I mean, before this era, the best fast bowlers India has had was probably Javagal Srinath, and Srinath would likely never even make it into the Indian squad today, never mind the likes of Venkatesh Prasad or Ajit Agarkar, who have been our #2 fast bowlers in the past (if not occasionally #1s).

How many T20s world cups did India lose due Dhoni's captaincy and how many CTs did India even fail to get out of group stage under Dhoni. Not to mention the flops in overseas tests where matches were done and dusted in the first session of the many tests.

How many trophies or tests did India win under Ganguly again? Who the hell is better than Kohli as Indian captain.Look at the talents he is being given Rayudus and TTFs like Karthik. He has resurrected both Ishant and Shami. He has made this rag tag Indian team with no batting compete in all overseas series .He has won odi series in every country except England and people still are complaining about his captaincy.

Was there any better captain than him for team India that includes Dhoni and Ganguly. Who cares about IPL.

It is a case of "inspite of" not "because of". Bit like appreciating West Indian cricket board for all the talents that are coming out of their country. Only good thing he has done is that too in Tests,  is going in with bowler strong XI. But to offset that he went with trashy players like Rohit sharma while leaving out Rahane , Pujara in different times. Also in tests you can come back, you can take time.  I bet Rahane/ Pujara would have been good captains as well.  Anyway we are talking about one dayers here where he is clueless, also pathetic in pretty much every department. 1) Squad selection 2) Team selection 3) Pitch reading  4) Field placement 5) Bowling choices. 6) Attitude towards his team members.  You could ignore IPL. But we can't. You gotta exhibit that you could put together a team that can win matches. Rohit won 3 times in his first 5 years. Dhoni has taken his side consistently to play offs.  Gambhir resurrected a dud team KKR from the scratch and won the title twice. Even this year, Ashwin has been remarkable with his field placement, bowling rotation.  Kohli on the other hand was clueless in every aspect.  Rohit sharma looks 10 times better than Kohli.
