Alam_dar Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) I hope you all know the latest incident where Muslim couple was beaten by the gau rakshaks and compelled to say Jai Shree Ram https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/muslims-thrashed-gau-rakshaks-jai-shree-ram-slogans-1534302-2019-05-25?fbclid=IwAR1gEhjkrKm33jVAs0VNcEJNy4N8NPTyzF_1VKjU4aQxcVTqj3dU0_smHgI I wonder, if there is any way possible for BJP to take back the Beef ban? All the blasphemy laws, made in name of Respect of Holy religious things are inhumane. Actually Beef ban is not even based on animal love and to save them from pain. While in this case there should also have been a ban upon chicken and mutton and hens and goats would have not been left to be slaughtered. Thus, Beef ban is based solely upon religious traditions. Little blame goes to the Gau Rakhshaks, but the major problem is this that such blasphemy laws are basically wrong. Sooner or later, BJP will have to pay the price. It is certainly one of the reason that people of South (even Hindus) will fear BJP and hate to see BJP winning in the South. Actually, BJP is a small thing. As far as I know the way of thinking of a human mind, then this issue will make many in the South India to hate the Hindu Dharam itself and you will see sooner or later they will start abusing the religion directly in one way or another. And sooner or later, farmers will also revolt against BJP. It is only a ticking time bomb, and it's explosion could not be stopped through Muslim hatred for very long. I am sure there are many sane people in BJP who already know themselves that this law should have been a non-issue, and it is going to hurt BJP big. But big question for them is how BJP could do it (i.e. to take back this beef ban)? Edited May 25, 2019 by Alam_dar
Real McCoy Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 As a foreigner, you shouldn't be discussing Indian politics more so that you are from a nation that is at odds with ours. If you want to talk cricket or talk to Indians on some other subject, you are free to do so. Also, Indians who should stop engaging foreigners while discussing local politics. Americans never talk politics with foreigners and its high time Indians start adopting similar attitude speed_thrills, Adi BB, Norman and 4 others 7

While I see American Media constantly making programs and documentaries about other countries and there are tons of articles about the internal situation of other countries and interviews and discussions in the talk shows. There are millions of people all over the globe who are taking part in discussions about American Presidential elections on thousands of discussion forums and presenting their opinions in comments section of newspapers. I personally belief that this non-interference is limited to the Government Level only. As far as people are concerned, then we all are linked to a human chain and it is impossible to stop others to think or have an opinion about incidents in other countries. If you want to you can, but I'll have the right to trollvote you if you indulge in internal matters like you usually do. I dont want to be rude but I dont have the time to shift through your BS and find which one I unapprove of. You seem to have plenty of time but I dont. This is also my sincere request to all Indians to not discuss politics with foreigners whoever they may be. With regard to your claims about america, they criticize other countries within their borders. They dont come to India (mostly) and lecture us about politics. I have experienced it on a personal level in america. They dont like it when foreigners discuss american politics while in US. An african coworker in my college got a complaint. However what you do is come to an Indian site and do this stuff. If I see you doing it, I will disapprove of it by downvoting you. I dont think you care but im still warning you.

Straight Drive Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Every country has some or other bans based on religion. There was crab ban in some country (forgot the name of country). Think it still exists as well.Burqa ban in many EU nations. Similarly beef ban now in India. These should be followed by people staying in respective countries.
Gollum Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) I am a BJP supporter and against beef ban, it makes no sense and is inhumane. I honestly don't know how those in power will change their views about this subject. Beef ban isn't an issue in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, North East, Goa etc, basically the madness is concentrated in North, West and Central India. BJP is a hypocritical party, they don't even mention beef ban in Goa and NE states where they are in power because they don't want to offend the sizable Christian population. Even top Kerala BJP leaders organize beef parties so as not to alienate the voters. This is total hypocrisy...opportunistic, narrow-minded politics being played by BJP. For them cow is mummy in some states and yummy in Goa, Nagaland, Manipur etc. I honestly am very pessimistic in this matter. More than gau rakshaks (frustrated unemployed youth) I blame the politicians. The way I see is Congress and other regional parties shouldn't shy away from raising this topic, they are being timid now because they don't want to be seen as anti-Hindu. That is wrong, ideology should trump petty politics even if it results in them being outnumbered. Minorities, Dalits, farmers, Mallus etc should form a collective union and make noise, try to have a national level discussion about this so that a solution can be arrived at. They are failing to get united, I especially feel for the farmers and those who depend on bovine slaughter for livelihood (butchers, those in leather industry). Real worry is that if opposition comes to power one day they may be hesitant to solve this fearing alienation of Hindu voter base. This will descend into madness unless people unite and speak in one voice, pressurizing the govt. Since farmers are an important votebank for BJP they should take the initiative, they are being economically harmed because of this. I don't see Hindu society being mature or brave enough to raise its voice, this is slowly aping Pakistan's blasphemy madness. Give it a few more years and things will be much worse. I don't see a change from within BJP or the Hindu society at large because for some odd reason they are too sensitive. Maybe religious leaders can refute the BJP pov citing scriptures but they will be easily shouted down by others, that isn't a solution. What I said in the previous para may be the only way out of this menace, especially opposition has to grow some balls. I am not mentioning judiciary's role here because I am not acquainted with the legal provisions or process. Maybe someone else can touch on that topic. Edited May 25, 2019 by Gollum Alam_dar 1

It's in our constitution. Regarding hypocrisy part, why would they talk about beef ban in those states? Would you talk about beef ban in Saudi Arabia? Every state is different and policies will differ state to state. You cant have one rule for every state. Not in every state people consider cow holy. We have diverse culture and traditions even among Hindu population. Leather industry anyway should die down anyway and use of leather products along with it. It's inhumane for animals. Beef ban isn't Inhumane but killing animals for your consumption is.
MechEng Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 It's a bit sad to see how life of animals has become a subject of politics and religion instead of showing genuine compassion to them. Alam_dar and Straight Drive 1 1
MechEng Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 @Alam_dar I agree with you on chicken and goat meat too. And just banning meat consumption officially won't enlighten people about compassion to animals. Think about this: If gau rakshaks beat up people for consuming beef, what are they trying to achieve with it? Preaching non violence to animals through violence and threat to people? See the contradiction here. Alam_dar 1

Directive Principles of State Policy...not enforceable, just a guideline. DPSP also talks about equal pay for equal work, somehow no one wants to bring that into application. You cant have one rule for every state. Not in every state people consider cow holy. We have diverse culture and traditions even among Hindu population. Those are still Indian states, Saudi is another country. How is it fair that in Goa (66% Hindu) beef is kosher but in Kashmir there is ban? If you find cow holy and I don't, why do you bother if I consume beef as long as I don't force feed you? You take care of millions of old, stray cattle if you are so attached. Stop this tyranny against beef eaters, farmers etc. And stop looking at other people's fridge/dining table, that invades privacy. Quote Leather industry anyway should die down anyway and use of leather products along with it. It's inhumane for animals. Beef ban isn't Inhumane but killing animals for your consumption is. It still employs millions of people, boosts our GDP and exports. We have highest unemployment rates across sectors in the last 45 years, let the govt arrange alternate jobs for these folks and then talk. Cow having 200 kilos of plastic in its stomach and drinking from the gutter isn't inhumane? Why this hypocrisy. It isn't like the stray cattle are having a jolly good time. Also if you are so concerned about animal welfare stop eating fish, mutton, chicken, eggs, milk. Ask GOI to make laws to enforce all that, but hell they won't. Edited May 26, 2019 by Gollum Alam_dar 1
Gollum Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Most cattle slaughterhouses in India are owned by Hindus and Jains, many BJP leaders as well. Sangeet Som runs a beef exporting company. NRI bhakts have no problem living in USA, Canada, UAE where beef is staple diet. But sitting from there they want to instruct who should be eating what in India. They don't care about the ongoing farmer crisis in India, the record low income for farmers and the suicide rate. Middle and upper class, high caste Hindus are so entitled it's funny. If Dalits and Muslims/Christians are earning their bread the privileged lot can't tolerate. If farmers are well off the privileged lot can't tolerate, all this moral science lecturing when none of them have taken care of old useless cattle for a single day. Onus always on the oppressed to hold on to some fictional morals, not one solution by BJP to tackle the adverse effects of the tyranny they have enforced on Indian people. Nobody is force feeding beef to them, why get so rattled by what others eat in the privacy of their homes? Why do the shameless creatures go around house to house checking the food spread on dining tables? The Dark Horse and GautiMaan 2
ravishingravi Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 No. And no it is not an issue on the ground. It is only an issue for the privileged class. India has much more basic level issues.

The Dark Horse Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Agree, BJP should focus on real issues, now that single majority is there. Ram Mandir, Sanskrit/hindi imposition, beef ban - all these things can take a backseat. Even building of statues, etc. is not going to help anyone..Focus on manufacturing, infrastructure development, exports, drinking water, etc.etc. Alam_dar 1
Pollack Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Hindus don't have a holy book which is not time bound and Hindus can look into to decide whether something is right or wrong , holy or not etc. A majority Hindus today believe cow to be holy and that is the truth. Hinduism is not an organised religion. Like current day Hindu beliefs are influenced by Buddhism, Jainism etc. Many debate how beef eating was common or allowed in vedic era. TBH it's untrue. But still it doesn't really matter in current era since like I said Hinduism is not rigid.
Number Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 How can it be a national issue is beyond me. It should be left to states to decide what laws are needed to be framed in this regard according to the sentiments of the people living in those states.

My links to Pakistan have become very weak (almost non-existent any more). I have almost lost all the hopes for Pakistan. For me Islam is the most tyrant religion. But it is a wonder that in case of Pork vs Cow issue, Pakistan is winning over India. In Pakistan, although non Muslims are not allow to show the meat in open, but they are totally free to have pig farms, and to slaughter them for their community, and to eat it and they will get no punishment for it. I think Indian States already have a law of not showing the Beef openly. They should have stopped at it.
