gooner Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 There has been a lot of talk about 400 and 500 kind of totals, but realistically we know it's nearly impossible to post this. Yes may be in a odd bilateral, but I don't think it's possible in a high pressure world cup. Even at these times a total of 280 to 320 is a winning total in a batting track. Moreover the format in itself wants you to burn slowly. So I think it's unwise to push our top order batsman to go bang bang. I ll be happy if any of the top 3 plays a anchoring role hovering around a strike rate of 100 and really accelerating at the death. I will be happy if we are 44-0 at the end of 10 rather than being 81-3. At the end of the day I don't see any proof for the hysteria going on here about totals of 360 being bare minimum. nitinbwj 1
rageaddict Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 The pitches in ICC Tournaments in the UK are not as flat as they are during the Bi-laterals. This is why believe the Target of 340 for India during the CT Finals wasnt an easy one as some fans seem to suggest. Asim 1

And I was lost for words on our bowlers collective indiscipline that day. I strongly believe that if we had batted that day and scored a modest total of around 275, we would have come triumphs. But it was a bat first put a total and let the pressure and disciplined bowling do the talking kind of track. Not something to try out of the box and come out looking total clowns. Asim 1
JourneyMan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Australia play Afghanistan later on today. Stay tuned.
jusarrived Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 If pitches are not flat and under pressure forget 280 from this team . The top order is not just slow , but also unreliable like how we saw against NZ and even Bangla
Suhaan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 They are chokers even if they reach semis irrespective of their run, they still will choke against top tier teams, can't bank on them in ko's against SENA including Windies Stan AF 1
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 They will get flatter as the world cup progresses..
bahubali Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Team batting first in the morning games have huge disadvantage.
kubrickian Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Teams will better lower order batsmen will do better in this tournament. Sometimes, its not easy to score runs up front so you need to play cautiously and you could also lose a few wickets at the top. This is when lower order contribution becomes crucial. gooner and vvvslaxman 1 1
jusarrived Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Bangla managed 65 of first 10 , this is bare minimum. Teams which will go defensive at the start will struggle

Scarface Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 400, 500 is not really needed. 325+ is still a good score if bowling is decent. Ban and Pak have showed in last 2 games that scoreboard pressure can suffocate the best of lineups.Sent from my ONEPLUS A6000 using Tapatalk
Trichromatic Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 330 can be chased in bilateral, but pressure plays a big role in WC. Ankit_sharma03 and GoldenSun 2
vayuu1 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I think these pitches are not that patta, I mean, their is some moisture early on, so you have to be a touch cautious early on so first 15 over 65-70 runs is not bad, next 5 overs 25-30 runs over 20-30 55-60 runs, next 10 65-70 runs last 10 overs 90-100 anything above that is bonus, offcourse it changes with pitch.
R!TTER Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Regardless of pitch 400/500 were never gonna be scored in this WC, if we had more minnows then there was a possibility but not against many of these attacks. Ankit_sharma03 1
