Actually, it was mentioned and he was asked to remove it. As much as I find this whole topic funny and think its big drama and being blown out of proportion, ICC did take action against Men too.

dhoni hasn’t earned the right to wear balidaan badge. For this, it requires a rigorous selection process and a one-year tour in a conflict zone with a Para SF battalion. 

 

Coming to larger point of religious, political and military symbols not being allowed by ICC, they are quite hypocritical. Pakistanis have prayed on-field but ICC takes no objection. Also, they have to take into account that dhoni is an honorary lt.colonel of the Indian army. He can wear what he wants as long as it doesn’t defame anyone. The military, just like other organizations, can use popular players like dhoni as a means to advertise. Nothing wrong with that

Some Online trolls would be soon using this for sentimental and emotional memes as how he is a bigger freedom fighter than Subhash Chandra Bose etc. you can clearly see a pattern here already.

 

I appreciated when they wore the  camouflage caps after the Pulwama attack. That was classy. Also absolute respect when they donated the proceeds from the first game of IPL  for  martyr families. 

 

Wearing army insignia on gloves etc  has reached gimmick proportions.

 

Dhoni does not represent the army. It is like those honorary doctorates that are thrown around at celebrities. He is taking this too far.

 

This does nothing for the army. Is he donating his match fees to the Indian army for wearing their insignia? 

 

He can tattoo it on his body if he wants. That’s a personal choice but not on the merchandise.

Dhoni has every right to wear it if Indian Army allows. If Indiam Army does not have any problem, who are we to decide ?

How will you start measuring it. If they are blocking the game to do namaaz then absolutely ICC should intervene. However I have no problem with a sajda celebration, no different from looking up or doing the cross sign.

 

In this case he is using an actual insignia like he is representing the army. This will open a Pandora’s box. This is obviously not as bad as save Gaza bands but what if Pakistan starts wearing Pak army logos? How is that going to look for Bangladesh? What if England starts wearing English army logos and have a caption, the army that ruled the world. How do you think rest of the teams will react?

 

There has to be guidelines and I am with ICC on this one. They nipped this in the bud before it became bigger.

ICC should come down hard on such antics, which by the way is done for his personal benefits.

ICC puts it foot down. This kind of situation could have been avoided to begin with thanks to a marketing gimmick stunt. No one benefits from this. Now hopefully fans don’t play along and make this a gimmick any more 

 

Plenty of other ways to show support for the army.  Playing into the stereotype that most of have nationalism and patriotism only when it comes to a frickin cricket match.
