Most likely will be dropped next game. Kishan back to opening slot, that's how Kohli's roulette works.

One option was to move KL down the order in place of Iyer & open with Rohit/Kishan. KL right now seems out of touch. Down the order he can ease himself into the match situation without the pressure to open. 
 

Looks like India have decided the openers for the WC are going to be Rohit & KL, nothing wrong with it. But what would one more failure at the top do to his confidence & the team’s confidence in him?

Kishan should have opened irrespective of what others had done. Why was he made to open if he was not looked at as an opener? This is classic Kohli, just absolutely random flip flops.  Don't defend everything that Kohli does.

Rahane as an opener >>> KL as opener in shorter formats. Middle order is debatable. Frankly, KL is much worse than Rahane as far as mental strength goes.

Kl rahul at his best is probably world no.1 t20 batsman but... i don’t know what goes on in his mind. He has the ability to play at 150 str rate with consistency but somehow resorts to playing at 120 , the same thing happened in wc 2019 where he was playing at a slower rate than Ambati Rayudu. There’s definitely something wrong in his decision making ability, he just needs to go out and express himself, he is at his best when he plays with intent.

Seniority explains most decisions. Rohit came in and replaced kishan because he the senior player.

 

SKY couldn’t replace Iyer because Iyer is the senior player.

His issue is not related to cricket.   Never was. It's purely mental. Since he started playing cricket, his lack of game awareness was clearly evident.     I think he needs to consult a psychiatrist.
