Rationale behind dropping Shami?

I think the team was impacted by the warm up game vs NZ. They probably felt that they needed some batting insurance in the event that Boult and gang took some quick wickets.

Time and again virat has shown he knows what he is doing in terms of selection yet we keep seeing such threads. Everyone would have take 235 to chase at start if match. Now sure why are people cribbing.

^ It worked against NZ's paper thin batting.

Good luck with 180 balls of Jadeja, Bhuvi and Hardik against Eng/Aus...

Only in India a bowler averaging 35+ will pass as a frontline bowler...

And we selected 3 bowlers averaging 35+ in a freaking semi final, pound for pound our bowling is weaker than Afghanistan in this match...

Let India and England reach the finals first...

let's first make it there, and then see what kind of team is played.

Yeah we saw how Shami bhai gave away 44 in 3 overs against England, the only match we lost in this world cup, we lost by 31 runs

That does not mean you drop genuine match winners from your side.

It's like dropping Dhawan or Rohit or Kohli after they get out in single digit score in one or two match.

Remember Shami / Kuldeep are Kohli / Rohit / Dhawan of our bowling side while Bhuvi Jadeja are Kedar / DK.

I can't believe people are defending selection of 35+ averaged bowler against sub 25 averaged bowler.

Chahal was the most expensive bowler in that match and he was the main reason they made 338. Shami took important wickets in the middle overs otherwise 400 was on the cards.

Well the team management definitely does not think so. They think of Shami more like Pant, aggressive and maybe a match winner but they would rather have someone safe and defensive. That's been their strategy throughout this world cup, a bit like 2010 Spain strategy

Wickets dont make a difference to England team as every single batsman keeps hitting and dont slow down after a wicket goes. The only way to contain England is stop 4s and 6s. Shami went for 69 runs too

Chahal gave 87-88 runs and he didn't pick any wickets and you are blaming Shami who took 69-5? England's run rate was close to 7.8 but it dropped a lot after Shami took wickets otherwise 400 was on.

Yes, I agree that the team management 'think so' as they have collective IQ of less than 50.

Because only an idiot will select 3 bowlers with 35+ avg. and bench 2 bowlers with sub 25 avg. in WC semi final.

Shami was also not judicious in SexTexting on the eve of an important match... BCCI is very strict with player's conduct. Shami has nobody else but himself to blame.BCCI won't select players doing dodgy things on the eve of a Semi-Finals. If Shami would've gone for runs, the same people who are complaining of his exclusion, would've blamed Team Management for selecting Shami...

BCCI took strong action against HaPa & KLR for their show on 'Koffee With Karan'....
