Can we try Surya kumar yadav before T20WC ?

He is a mediocre hack. Just because it is T20 you can’t bring in any trash. You still need skills, power, some amount of technique and game awareness. The basic minimum are still going to be required.

He is not just good enough. I would rather play a Kedar Jadhav or a Rahane over him. Yes he is that average.

Says the guy who fell into love at first sight with Jermaine Blackwood.

T20 cricket has space for the Colin Munros and Surya Yadavs.  IF they can deliver with some consistency.

Exactly. He seems to overdo flick and sweep, and gets predictable.

Atrocious bowling performance, can't believe Kaul and Unadkat actually played for India

Oh its very believable.  The last couple of years of Bhuvi, Bumrah, Shami and Ishant 2.0 have really spoiled us.  For decades before that, the norm was guys like those 2.

I posted about yadav being a lower middle order T20 option a few years ago, got laughed at here.  I understand where you're coming from, but Surya doesn't really bowl, and given the top heavy nature of the Indian lineup, the slots in the 5-7 range are only available for guys who are bowling options.

i think he chucks so might be banned so not sure

5-7 yes u need bowling options but power hitting as well...hardik injury has made things more complicated and pant hasnt settled. So options need to be kept for every scenario or else the top order will continue to bat safe . Since hardik is not fir fore next few series why not try few options ....we have kept DK for similar role in t20 for last yr or so despite having another keeper in lineup coz of his hitting .

M not saying he is someone im sure will come off but worth a try

How the heck this guy Unadkat go for so much money in IPL auction.Something very very fishy about it. No sane owner will invest that kind of money on this useless guy. He is an utter waste fellow.

Did you watch yesterday's Eng/NZ T20?   England pretty much went with Rashid's legspin, and 4 guys who are good at doing change of pace, slower ones and knuckleballs.   Unadkat had that good year with his slow, slower, slowest and knuckleballs.  That type of bowling can sometimes be hard to get the timing right against.

Thank God Indian team has the option of someone like a Bumrah, who can do the well disguised slower ones, but also has other weapons in his toolkit.

Firstly it is Roston Chase that I thought was a good talent but coming to Blackwood he won a test match vs England for his side. Key word “Test Match” and then played some good knocks against the no.1 side in the world India.

Not a third rate hack like Surya Kumar Yadav.

Coming to Munro, he has 3 T20I 100s and on his day can smack 145+ bowling something SKY will be a sitting duck against.

People like SKY might bully spinners on flat tracks b it sorry in the current Indian side and the talent pool we have won’t even make it to the 5th X1.

Don’t hate him. Happy that such journey man cricketers make a great living in India, in another country we would hear stories like such players are driving a cab, bagging groceries  or washing windows or working as a construction worker about such players. Happy for his success but keep him away from the Indian cap to maintain the sanctity please.

As Indian fans we Already  have to go to the temple and ask for forgiveness to even see someone like Dube in Indian colors.

.They should have scored 500 plus against this bowling but both Mayank and Gill batted too slow.Indian batsmen in top three have to score faster, this culture needs to start from domestic cricket.

Have been harping on this since 2016.  Our top 3 have great individual stats, but consistently get outscored as a unit by the likes of England.  Not because Roy, Hales, Bairstow are better batsmen than Rohit and Kohli.  But because those batsmen are trying to achieve very different objectives.  It takes a while for batsmen to modify their method to put up team scores like that.  Our top order targets getting to 300, and then if the lower order gets lucky, we get to 350.  Boils my blood that other team with inferior skill batsmen are winning games with the bat while we fall short.  And then you will have guys blaming the bowlers, or the lower order batsmen.

No,

29 year old t20is specialists should never be invested in .Yadav will never become an odi player .

He will score against weak attacks and will fail against strong ones.

He doesnt look like an international standard batsman, the problem with bringing a 29 year old who hasnt played any cricket at the highest level is that theres a 90% probability that he"ll fail and 2 years of developing a young batsman will be lost.
