Cummins was 17 when he started, I guess that doesn't count either :bebored:

The mental gymnastics in this thread is the same as ever, bring in Pandya because he's the A/R :partyall:

Cummins is the worst xample his career start was filled with injuries

Obv cummins is 1st choice he ll bowl more pandya is 5th bowler....atleast get right xamples who do same job

I agree Cummins career was injury hit as well with probably more surgeries than Pandya has had.  However, i posted a list of players who have taken more workload than Pandya with relatively were few or justone injury (Kapil). But Cummins is much more  successful than Pandya is in Tests.

Cummins has worked through injury to reach this workload . Let pandya play that much. Kapil is once in rare example also we need to check the amount cricket played then to now.

Check this list. There is a long list but i have kept it short as it will take lot of time to compile more such examples.

Guys who batted at 6 made a consistent 60+ scores considering both innings and more importantly they were Test specialists, leaving out Sharma.

Vihari was new to the team, give him time he will be a much better batsman than Pandya.

Pandya avgs 60+ in good batting conditions .... In Aus, he would have hit a 100

yes,he is a fragile maiden. just like his buddy KLR in the past.

You cannot compare him to KL Rahul.Pandya is a fast bowler whose action puts lot strain on his back. The problem for Pandya is he never played lot of FC cricket  which would have helped his body build that strength. He was playing all formats which is very very hard for an allrounder.

So bowlers who played lot of FC doesn't get back stress fracture? Bumrah got it recently despite playing lot of FC. Ishant never got it and he had played less FC than Pandya when debuted. Ishant also had a mixed action.

And he kept getting injured till 24. Also I am not asking Pandya to play test, just putting facts. Back stress fracture can happen to anyone, any time. Bumrah just got it last year and he is not 17.

Ishant was used to bowling long spells in Ranji’s too early even in early days.

No one can predict injuries but having enough overs under belt before taking on full load of three formats certainly helps.

That is the reason young bowlers are not given full load.

Biomechanics is a very tricky Anderson’s action was thought to be very injury prone so they changed it but he got more injuries. As soon he reverted to his original action, he had a very successful career.

In Pandya’s case more overs would have helped him deal the stress of three formats, would it have prevented injuries only god can answer that question.

Bumrah playing all formats also has contributed to his injury. It is the constant stress both physical and mental without proper break in between will cause more injuries to fast bowlers.
