Kusal is probably the only batsman from lanka who would walk into any other batting line up in the world. How can you drop that guy??? He played one of the greatest innings of all time ffs!!

South Asian countries need to rope in young selectors or force these oldies to go through some trainings such as that of sports stats before looking into the role of a selector.

Its not about training.  SL cricket admins are even more political than PCB...

At times the selectors are under pressure as well tbh.

 

Younis Khan who was an average LOI player got into the team replacing Fawad Alam/ Haris Sohail.

"under pressure" from whom.  Selectors job is to select the best players and team.  If that is being interfered with, its politics and corruption.  This is a known issue in Pak, and also in SL.  Very possible that in India too, but its more obfuscated.

Media pressure etc.  

 

Fawad Alam is a very famous case in Pakistan of not rewarding domestic performers. Even Mohammad Abbas got his chance pretty late.
