Quotas don't need to worry for selections. Some Bambi will always push for them, be it through a selection committee or coach or captain or even effing commentators.

Natural talent more often than not compensates for the lack of fitness.

LAck of fitness doesnt allow you to achieve your max capability. The guys in the OP will achieve way more with some fitness in their life. Lack of fitness will just let you be good, not great

And come to think of it even rahane.

The op has just selected players to suit narrative

He didnt say all Mumbai players. But thats a lot of players from one state. There's definitely a pattern

not really.

In recent past those who have represented India (last 5 years)

Slim: Iyer Rahane Kulkarni

Fatter side: Rohit Thakur Shaw

Ok: Dube

Its an entire range of players fitness wise to be honest.

Define idea of fitness? A pehlawaan from a desi vyayamshaala with a gut can kick the ass of any 6 pack  jock from an urban Gym any day.

Rohit sharma scores 200+ for fun without breaking a sweat that includes multiple 6’s and a lot of running.

I have seen some 6 pack players get cramps scoring 60-70 runs.

Rohit is unfit in atheletic terms. chubby even. Thats a fact, may be he could do even better if fit .
