Pant shud do what sachin did in NZ - Asks TM to make him open, they listen or not but just ask them. In LOI top 3 is the best place to bat

Will also help India negotiate Boult threat. 2 right handed batsmen is a little risky IMO. Mayank's confidence will be unnecessarily dented for test matches.

even pant n shaw are also risky in that way as both are aggresive batsman and one some days it can be 2 down in no time

Also boult, lockie n henry are not in ODI squad.....their bowling attack isnt that threatening so may be ideal to make pant open

Mayank and Shaw should open for NZ and SA. I am even ok if Rahul opens, but please don't shamelessly change his place again when Dhawan gets back.Dhawan has been good but he has not attained that stature in Indian cricket where team has to sacrifice careers of other people based in his unpredictable availability.

Go w/ the below:

1 & 2. Agarwal & Shaw (so they can prepare for tests as well)

3. Pant (could play tests)

4. Kohli (plays test)

5. KL

6. Iyer / Panday

7. Jadeja (plays tests)

8. Thakur

9. Kuldeep (plays tests so do not expose him much in the series)/Chahal (rotation)

10. Saini (likely to play tests)

11. Bumrah/Shami (rotation) (play tests)
