Top players like Morgan adapt when playing in different positions, here we are debating whether Virat should bat at 3 or 4. If you are that good a player a single position move shouldn't affect your game so much. You have to accomodate the newer players in their preferred positions if they can improve the team somewhat.

True. These are the real great players. Unfortunately we have wusses. Even the new players coming in are quite inflexible.

Compare Morgan to the 2010-11 version of Raina.  The Raina that hit that 86 in the IPL Final.  Loads of similarities.  And both of them carry a known chink against the short quick stuff.  

 

Obviously Morgan has done a lot more in his career, especially with leadership.  And the game has evolved to value a #5 striker like Morgan or Raina, a lot more today, than they were 12 years ago.

Conditions influence length and line habits.  Pretorious burned his muscle memory on the bouncy harder tracks in SA.  Doobi has had to bowl his pies in the slower, lower sub-continental tracks.  Not saying he's playing in UAE or Bangladesh, but relative to SA, desi tracks are definitely slower and lower.

Wrote an article for ICF suggesting Virat should move to #4, and introduce KLPD Rahul into the top order, asking the top 2 batsmen to bat more aggressively up front - this was more than 15 months before the WC.  

 

In desi land, "seniors" rule, and its the young talent trying to make his mark, who has to shift from opener to #5.  While Kuptaan stays at #3 prettying up his cumulative ODI stats, along with his endorsement waiting list.

Morgan is very underrated ,but he remains England's ace batsman in lois not even Stokes come close

He is a ferocious hitter in their middle order,they just keep coming

T20 cricket is all about hitting boundaries no half measures or personal record chases,if pitches are flat this should be the way to go with

We leash our hitters to take it deep,the Dhoni virus will effect us for ages ,it will take an England like loi revolution to take us out of this hole,this is batting era, teams have moved on and we are still stuck with 2010s,even in early to late 2000s we used to score 320+ for fun with Yuvraj there ,thank God Yuvi(young) didn't play under this TM

That's why I don't rate the over hyped PR driven cricketers of our country. All their success comes at a particular position. Slight change and they fail miserably.
