Good - the guys who decided that "few thousand dead" should be accepted in the name of saving the economy should suffer some first hand consequences.

The genius whose 'model' was used to make that initial decision by UK, also got the virus.  And then admitted that a lot of his code for the model was "poorly documented" and written in 2008, and maybe unreliable.

It appears that a lot of governments are making decisions based on models and simulations - and some idiots are choosing to interpret models and the built-in 'model risk' in a wishful fantasy manner, for political reasons.

It was not the herd immunity theory based actions which had the consequences of the mass surge in cases and deaths.. it was the lax attitude of the UK government and other countries too who did not take this seriously at the start and stop flights coming in from China and then Italy.

When you don’t stop travellers from virus hit spots coming or at the very least quarantine them on arrival then is the result. The so called herd immunity idea was just sound bites.. it was already too late by then as asymptotic infected people were going about their normal life after returning from hotspots and in the process established community transmission.

I have a suspiscion that herd immunity theory came because Chinese lied.  UK government thought, that less than 4000 dead per billion when Chinese werent even aware about Virus vs brilliand NHS system and just 60+ million population will be able to deal with it.

Italy also probably thought the same. But since Italy was 2 weeks ahead, Government realised, that Chinese are lieing, despite gifting the Panda for a decade.

I don’t have underlying fetish for the royal family

however the institution is an important part of British identity even if the younger snowflake millennials get triggered over their existence. They bring a lot to the UK economy.

As the queen is still alive the current traditions and mentality may seem a bit archaic however I see a shift in the Monarchy becoming a bit more chilled out and modern thinking once William becomes king.

Meh!

Its the UK. I wouldn't waste so much breath on them.

They're a has been. Their 'pull' on the global level is negligible.

The only time they are in the news is over Brexit or the royal wedding/divorce/engagement/coronation/baby. Basically the Windsor version of Hum Saath Saath Hain.
