There's tens of thousands moving every day to their home state in trains. It is a fact though that the experience of local migrants are way worse. Govt machinery by itself isn't capable of handling the problems of crores of low income people, and then it's the day to day nature of the numbers which requires further decisions to be evaluated regularly. If we had our numbers settling down in the weeks after lockdown it would have been possible to open the economy phase by phase and people could start getting back to work but looking at cities like Mumbai Delhi & Ahmedabad, it doesn't seem feasible for some more weeks. I wonder if some catering services could have been contracted by local govts to assist the low income people with sufficient safeguards, it wouldn't have been as much a struggle and people could possibly stick around.

Idiotic to not do it, Rishi Kapoor’s daughter was allowed a domestic charter flight, I guess we are talking about privileges of rich and famous and the unknown to charter a flight in emergency.
