Among the ones in 70s-80s team - Not surprised to see Amarnath among the top batsmen. Happy to see Vishwanath among the top batsmen too as my impression of him is of a gusty batsman

what possible logic is this ?

when he bats on fourth innings doe Dhoni do wicket keeping as well or some nanga nach ? no right he just bats like other batsmen. So keep him in the list.

Dravids average is mostly built based on one west indies tour which sachin skipped. A very very weak west indies He scored fifties and  100 remained not out. Apart from that both of them had exactly the same no.of 50s and 100s in 4th innings. Also their averages in the 4th innings in SENA are very similar despite Sachin having played in a completely different era

There is a reason the loser OP @zen included West Indies or excluded Dhoni. Since over 10 years he had one single agenda on this forum. At that time he was mocked for his ridiculous postings and stuff like RPT, but now they have made him mod and let him run amock

An ignorant post not even worth two cents (only read, not skimmed, it because I was tagged). I do not know why you are writing against one player and providing excuses for the other. Is it so difficult to praise other Indian players? The topic is to see how the key specialist batsmen have done in 4th innings outside the subcon over the recent period.

On top of that you are providing wrong information. Below since Dravid's debut in SENA (so the time frame is similar even though Dravid is at a disadvantage of adjusting to the learning curve, whereas Sachin has 6-7 years of international experience at that point). There is Dhoni in it as well who avgs 35 ( @Rasgulla would be happy with that!):

Batting in 4th innings on subcontinent pitches is probably more tougher than outside subcontinent.

Some of the grounds in England, SA and NZ are best to bat on day 4 and 5.

In Australia other than Sydney and Adelaide which start assisting spinners from day 4 are as good for batting on day 4-5 as they are on day 1.

Only West Indies pitches become quite vicious with uneven bounce later in the match.

It is mostly the scoreboard pressure which gets to the batsman in 4th innings.

The worst performer in 4th innings away from home among ATG batsmen is Lara (average of just 25 with 0 hundreds).  Quite eye opening. Steve Waugh also low at 27.
