Its now undisputed that he could be our greatest match winner in SENA.. how do we ensure that we maximize his potential?

Bumrah should be played with focus on important test matches alone mainly in SENA.. ensure that his length doesnt suffer.. this is critical as we have seen him suffer in ODIs/T20s after playing few test matches.. and vice versa..  so continue to ensure that he plays mainly the tests and give him the freedom to play the IPL with full zeal. Give adequate rest in March if required.

Let him play the odd critical bilateral odis t20s if required.. it will keep him in the scheme of things...we gotta be smart and play him like how Dale Steyn was utilized in his initial days by SA. During his 47th test, Dale played <50 ODIs..

When the world cups are around the corner, let Bumrah get into the LOI lengths / yorkers mould again.. this should be done with proper planning.. keep him ready in advance for the showpiece events..  very tough to do these with BCCI's tv rights and other things but since Saurav is at the helm I am sure they might have thought about it..

Play all SENA tests

Play 60% of home tests esp against teams like Eng, NZ, Aus...we already have Shami, Umesh and 2 legendary spinners, so we needn't play him every match.

Let him play IPL.

JAMODIs and T20s he should get in groove before ICC events. Even otherwise he should play a couple of white ball matches every series, he has become a defensive bowler in short formats and he must work on that.

No domestic FC/List A except when he is coming back after injury.

Play him in all multi-nation tourneys, tri-series, Asia Cup etc. To develop mental toughness in must win matches and when something is at stake.

The biggest regret I have about this past ODI WC.  We wasted peak Bumrah.  Who knows what Boom's fitness and injury issues - that all pacers have to deal with - will be in 2023.  But in 2019 he was fit and firing at his best.  We had peak Bumrah, we had Bhuvi and Shami, and 2 wrist-spin weapons.

And our Fuddu batsmen couldn't even take them to the WC final.  Couldn't make 250.

The Bumrah that we saw in tests in West Indies.. I know the opposition might be weak but those spells were something.. probably among the greatest spells in world cricket.
