I think it’s something to do with genes. In our league, everytime a black bowler appears, he has six packs and atleast six feet tall and fastest in his team. Accuracy is not there but pace definitely belongs to black Caribbean. Its just that not enough black youth is interested in Cricket else, 100 mph is not difficult for them to touch

Most of the blacks are hip dominant bowlers. Only hip dominant bowler who has been clocked anywhere close to 100 mph in last 20 years since the use of speed guns is Mitch Starc and he isn't black. You will not find many Hip dominant bowlers clocking 155 plus. There are usually more hip dominants who can bowl 140 plus but knee dominants can touch express speeds to 155+ and they need to be slingers. In history, knee dominant slingers have been the fastest bowlers ever. One of them, Fidel Edwards who clocked 157, is a black. Others are Shoaib, Lee, Tait, Shane bond who also clocked 156 IIRC though wasn't a slinger but knee dominant.

Only knee dominant slingers will hit 100 mph even in future. Blacks are great athletes and are mostly hip dominants and hip dominants cannot be slingers.

Also, I don't remember any prominant slinger in world cricket today.

Look at Rabada. He got hit for two 4s by Sundar. He then changed what he was doing, brought the ball back in from a shorter length, cramped Sundar for room and got him out.

Saini should watch this.

Saini though bowled to much superior batsmen than Sundar. Rabada does vary his angle and lengths, lines

It's quite funny I have never seen Rabada doing this consistently for SA as he has been for last 2 years for Delhi. However, he has been an absolute gem & lesson for others like Cummins, Archer, Bumrah etc

Saini getting smashed today. Hope he comes back stronger next game.

First -have control on what you already have and back it up.

1.He can nail yorkers .

2. He can go round the wicket and bowl yorkers

He already has this skill  , just take wet balls and practice these over & over and control it .

Try to add following varieties -

1. Wide yorkers landing on the popping crease .

2. Again same wide yorkers landing on the popping crease from round the wicket , which will go at 45 degree angle towards  slips . Very effective vs Rh bats . Should also bowl good bouncers in between from that angle  with a deep fine leg .

3. Try getting bounce from hard lengths if possible . Not sure if he can do that looking at his bowling style .

4. Slower bouncer .

Some very good points

I feel Saini should  -----

1)  Bowl on the shorter side of good length on normal tracks as he lacks natural bounce from his fuller balls.  Basically target the top of off stump. A Bumrah, with natural bounce, needs to bowl on the fuller side of good length to hit the top of off stump.

Whenever a side view of the delivery was given for Saini yesterday, it was seen that his delivery was going on to hit much below the top of the stumps. This lack of bounce meant that he was hitting the sweet spot of the bat.

Saini's front leg is not braced and his point of release is not as high as it could be. This may not be rectifyable at this age but he can probably work a bit more on his wrist action for some additional zip off the track. And hit the deck harder too so that he hits the splice of the bat. He was floating the ball up yesterday and hitting the sweet point of the bat.

2)  I have been writing about this point for a long time. Pacers need to bowl round the wicket to left handers as the default option. This will cut down the angle and reduce the width on offer. Our quicks are doing it often enough in test matches in the last 3 years and getting good results too.

3)  As you said ... practice more using wetter and slippery balls to mimic dew on the ball. He is having real difficulties regarding this

4)  Practice varying the lengths of different deliveries while keeping the line on off stump ...  when the batsman is trying to hit or slog almost every ball.  Bowling bouncers rather frequently. Don't let the batsman camp on the front foot. He has a good quick bouncer but is not using it.

 Agree  Expressji.

The thing with Saini is that he has done these things hence backing him to come up trumps . If we watch the Aus Vs India one dayers  in DEc 2019 -Jan 2020  in 2 games he had done these things .  some back of Length deliveries in first spell at Pace , bouncers  , Going round the wicket and bowling accurate yorkers , Slow bouncers .

What strikes me about him is he looses all when attacked and not a brainy type  who thinks through quickly  .

He priority  now should be to practice those 3-4 deliveries and have control over them and be ready with a plan when batsmen try to go after him.

1. control over yorkers on stumps .

2. Bowl wide yorkers - balls landing on batting crease for RH & LH bats .

3. Bowl round the wicket and wide , balls going towards 2nd slip to RH.

4.  Bouncer & slow Bouncer  .

5.  Change the pace of  back of length balls at times by 10-12K  to induce mishit but without giving much width.

I do not think he would be able to bowl hard lengths and get bounce like a Nortje , his bowling style may not allow him to do that .

Wet ball cannot be an excuse for any pacer now as almost all  matches are played D/N . In fact all games K/O Onwards  will be D/N . So  they need to manage this . May be try  a different grip .
