Only negative I noticed is that most of his runs are through aerial shots. Haven't seen much of grounded drives or cuts.

Those who have watched him more can tell better about his ability to score from risk free shots.

@Number is probably expecting a display of mix of ariel and grounded shots, not Kohli type only grounded shots.

Liked the confidence with which he tacked the extra pace of Jofra Archer.  Did not look troubled.

Another top knock yesterday.

And he knows how to pace his innings, so early in his career.

Confidence and belief that he belongs on the big stage - he has loads of both. Great to see a youngster do well right from the outset!

I wouldn't have minded it if he was a lower order bat. For an opener to succeed you should have a decent risk free game too.

Padikkal is leaving as well as defending quite a few balls .Moreover, he has used his wrists well to place the ball in the gaps, along the ground for 1s and 2s. He seems to have a good defensive as well as consolidating game.

Even regarding boundaries. I have seen flicks and drives along the ground.

But Padikkal is a natural 6 hitter. Many of the lofted 4s we are seeing are attempted 6s.

The only thing I want to see is how he tackles the fuller swinging balls around his off stump. This aspect is not clear to me.
