Can Hardik Pandya play as a batsman alone in ODIs if he cant bowl anymore?

• He is a blind slogger - did u watch every pull hook kept down the ground...proper batting
• Acc to you 90 in Sa was fluke and Innings against pak was lack of pressure so whats the excuse for this

SDP is a superb player of both pace and spin. Not just ODIs but should be included in tests too. Can play a few magical knocks to win you a test!

Let us not get carried away with this innings. It was good but unless he repeats this very frequently , he does not deserve to be in the team as batsman.

He avg 60 against aus , before anyone says it wud be becoz of not out....no he has 360 runs against them in 6 innings means 60 runs every innings

He's making a habit of making useless runs. He needs to finish games like Dhoni batting at the position he does. Even Agarkar and Irfan Pathan have made 80s/90s batting in the top order so this is not unique to Pandya. He needs to bowl to justify his position. If he's not bowling, he can be replaced by someone else.

how do u finish 370 runs ??? when did dhoni finish of 370 runs ?

Which batsman alone wud have finished of this target or with half a support from other side

he played a good knock today but there were periods where he got into a rut.

 

after scoring 31 ball 50, he scored like 9 runs in next 20 balls.. even if he managed to take singles in such period, it would have improved the situation. I know he was in impossible situation today, but in more hopeful situations, these short peiiods are what cost the game. you can't show dead bat to stoinis for 3 overs straight in a high scoring match

No Pandya did not whoop anybody's ass. All he did was buy himself some time as a specialist batsman.There is nothing extraordinary about his innings.Jadhav scored 120 of 76 deliveries and won India match chasing 350 plus. No he is not a  no6 .He is no7 who needs to bowl to be in the team.

yea coz the pitch slowed down and dhawan at other end wasnt helping, thats when a batsman tries extra n looses timing

thats called pacing the innings and around 25th over pitch slowed down more

 is good to see Pandya making progress with bat. In 2017 he had scored 80 odd against someone. Today he managed to score 90 which is his highest. The improvement in best score is gradual but it's there. Someday he will play a big innings as he is now batting in specialist batsmen position. His batting average is now back over 30 finally. Actually 31.73. Guess it will fit specialist batsmen's performance as he will get to bat more now.

To expect him to finish these chases is asking bit too much. Even Bradman cannot win the matches these matches from those positions. Dhoni never had this ability to chase 350 plus totals.

I thought he batted so well today infact i believe if he bats up the order or gets more opportunities he will certainly evolve more as a batsman

might have been a decent innings, will watch highlights now as I missed it as I went to sleep. I was responding to Ankit’s taunts because it looked to me like pandya had pulled of a miracle won based on his gloating.

Btw do watch how he pulls n hooks n most importantly keeps it on ground unlike someone so called proper batsman who cant even keep on eye on ball
