watching umesh yadav bat...i  get a question in my mind.

are the coaches coaching him to Bat? I doubt. he is just slogging when it is not required.

i will be happy if he scores some runs but the way he is batting , he can get out of any ball. he is not trying to play proper clean batting. seems coaches dont want the bowlers to bat well.

he is going for slogs and rahane is also not asking him to bat properly.

What curent form? He had some really good measured ipl innings, never threw his wicket away, never looked really in trouble. He formed some great match winning partnerships and also kept well

Why do some of you guys lie so blatantly when everyone saw him bat in IPL?

If you want to hate on a player or support others do it, but don't think other people are fool and make up a white lie

What a joke!! Pant was terrible this IPL and looked pathetic with his shots and fitness..

That said he should still be the first choice keeper in Tests given his performance in previous overseas tours....  But calling his IPL performance as good is blatant fanboyism ala Dhoni fans did when he sucked...

At least Umesh has a Batswing.  Every time I see Bumrah batting my blood boils that he has a decent physique but he is an absolute mug.

Most disappointing in this regard is Shami. He had a fifty in England early in his career which shows that he had some basics right. Since then his batting has seriously regressed. All we get from him now is mindless slogging and even that rarely comes off.

kuldeep scored 15 off 78 balls and got rahane to score some runs.

More over he must have got genuine batting practice as anything more than 50 balls indicates a fair practice.

in case he is picked he is sure to score some runs for sure unless he is unlucky. as a bowler , he definitely should be giving competition to Ashwin.

Umesh is a no 10 where as Boom bumrah is a no 11. even shammi seems a no 11.

kuldeep is definitely a better batman than CHAHAL, UMESH,SHAMMI and Bumrah

Rahul will not keep in tests, no chance. Test cricket wicket keeping is another level of challenge. We want KL the batsman, not keeper in tests.

Saha will be prioritized if both fails. I think Pant is overrated in this forum. He does not have the game awareness to sustain his batting long enough in test cricket. His two hundreds also came in dead rubber on a really flat wicket.

New Zealand series was more of a reality check when he got out like three times in one inning for like what? 8 runs?

His best bet to score runs is still Australia but not sure if he has worked enough on his fitness till now.

Dead rubber, flat wickets! Ways to run down historical achievements, something no other Indian keeper has EVER done despite there being multiple dead rubbers on flat wickets.

If NZ tour is the benchmark, no one from that too 6 should be in the playing 11 for the first test.

Well played Rahane. Hope the form continues.

Someone in a different part of Sydney must be feeling very very insecure like he did after Rahane's brilliant captaincy in the 2017 home series (incidentally from that point Rahane's only declined as a batsman)

He averaged 27 in England, that's quite an average performance to boost about. In Australia, he did well but that 159* came when the series was already in our hands.

Also, if you are willing to accept that Pant did well this year's IPL after striking at 113, then I have nothing to say. On current form and his fitness, he is basically 60% as good as what he did in Australia last time.

Where did I write he did well in IPL?

The England series, where he averaged 27, was his debut series. Check how our frontline batsmen not named Kohli performed in that series.

BTW even if he is 60% of what he was in Aus in 2018-19, that will still make him our top 3 batsmen going by how others performed in Aus.

The guy gets to play all tough away series (Eng, Aus, NZ), misses out on easy runs in home series, gets dropped by the captain as he wishes, no wonder he's lost his way.

The blasphemy is that Pant fans are ridiculing me for telling a blatant lie that he didn't do well this year in IPL.

It must be the joke of the year if they are still deluded to think that I am blatantly lying when I say that Rishabh Pant flopped this year in IPL.

Show me where I said Pant did well in IPL. Or are you delusional and reading imaginary things?
