People like you are an embarrassment to cricket fans.

What the * has age got to do with anything especially in test cricket? IF you had said he is bad because of his performance, understandable. But age? Cmon.

If you are good u can play till whatever age ur fitness allows. Especially tests. Stop coming out of your IPL circus show. Calling every 30+ as oldies and wanting to replace them is ridiculous and fitting for a keyboard warrior sitting in his mom's basement and nothing else.

Gill is a supreme talent and will do well. Don't need moron fans for that to happen.

Have some respect for veterans who have given their all to the game.

Lmfao I'd have no issue if Rohit had performed previously overseas but he didn't.  Now he scored tons at home & now he's back at it...  Rinse repeat every time.  I don't change my opinion based on the fact that Rohit is old.  It is completely based on  performance.  If Gill & Mayank both do well in Australia..  Then I don't give a damn if Rohit Sharma's test career is over.

And btw konsa veteran:hysterical:  Rohit at 34 is still finding his feet in Test cricket:dance:

He should be playing in Middle order to start, probably at #5. He should be playing all the matches, doesn't matter if he scores or not. Give him entire series, and by end of it he will know where he stands and what he needs to do. otherwise, we will have another manish pandey.

No way he is Manish.  Its a matter  of " When succeeds -This series or next series in india vs Eng)  and not " will he succeed" . If we doubt about his success in Tests then

there are not many young players in India who can succeed in Tests.

Only doubt is which # is best for him . He is the heir to take #4 from VK later . So should be slotted in MO.

My concern is the rising delivery at the start around off stump  - Type of deliveries you expect from Cummins & Hazelwood without any loose balls to hit.  He tries to play those deliveries rather than leaving them initially.  Little of patience and art of leaving those deliveries need to developed .

He is hitting some beautiful shots.. looks very very stylish.. he will have huge fan following world over once he is settled into this team

I think most of people knew it from couple of years now, he was just delayed due to something due to weirdly going on with team management.

Hope the view does not change after a couple of failures.

Under this TM, not entirely sure if Gill will start though. Under similar situation in NZ, they went with Shaw and they have been very prone to go against practical and popular opinions simply to show their power.

Gill will be in future but shaw won't. Again I repeat ANY DAY ILL PICK PUJARA N KOHLI OVER SHAW GILL in an overseas test match as of today.

WTH both Pujara & Kohli are international stalwarts & not Shaw Gill so we expect them to fire when they are in their peak years.  Shaw & Gill both learn in time.  Shaw has technical issues that won't bother him in India but he will be exposed overseas.  He has all the shots that even most of our Indian batsman don't have.  He just need to alter his technique a little bit.

Gill is obviously very Talented as well & we'll see how he does in Australia.

exactly. For youngster's to learn they have to play along with established players not just replace everyone just because theyr are over 30.

Son, when I used to play serious cricket you would still have been in your snuggies. Don't preach cricket to me. You'll be humiliated.

Equation is pretty simple. For the first test (on current form):

Mayank

Gill

Pujara

Kohli

Rahane

Vihari

Pant

Ashwin

Shami

Bumrah

Umesh/Saini

Rahul replaces Kohli in the second test. And then we will have Rohit on standby from the third test onwards to replace anyone who's in poor form.

And who care about your apology......even if he doesn't he ll still be youngster with lot of potential and at 21 yrs old he ll still get lot of opportunities. Btw you were jumping up and down and criticizing them during practice matches gill and pant given you befitting slap. Now shutup and watch who does what especially oldies let's see if Kohli uncle cross his grand total of 30 during last NZ series.
