Rohit replaces Pujara as vice-captain for remaining two tests. That means he is playing, can't drop Gill, so one out of Mayank/Vihari is set to be dropped.

Thats a bit strange. How can a designated vice captain be replaced by another mid-series and for what reason  Also Pujara is more established as a test player than Rohit. There needs to be some protocol established within the team by BCCI as Pujara is still playing. Or is he? :fear1: Otherwise it will be do as you please from the TM and star players

So the playing 11 more or less would be like

Rohit (vc)

Gill

Pujara

Rahane (c)

Pant (wk)

Vihari

Jadeja

Ashwin

Siraj

Bumrah

Natarajan.

I still think KL Rahul would be included instead of Vihari thereby prompting a change in the batting order.

Dude all reports saying Lord Shardul will replace Umesh. Even Boria, and he is mostly right with these things, has reliable sources.

Rohit will pull his seniority card and play at 5 pushing Gill/Mayank or Rahul if he plays to open. Don't be surprised if he does

Ash/Bumrah better contenders than Rohit

The only reason we even have a contest is Smith's performance with the bat. If he starts firing it is going to be a massacre.

Our bowlers have done so well to keep him quiet, I fear Lord Shardul will undo all the hard work and play him into form on SCG patta, 130 kph gun barrel straight deliveries by that shorty means every ball will hit middle of the bat. Once that happens, and Smith spends some time in the middle with runs under the belt, 5 Ashwins and Bumrahs won't put a lid on his scoring for rest of the series.

Pujara will be made scapegoat and made to open and Rohit will bat at no 4 or 5

Tbh..  I'll take him over Nattu.  At least his edges will carry.  Nattu with his 120kph thunderbolts..  I think Pant will have to come up to stumps for him when he's bowling 15th over of the day.  We all know what happened to Abbas in Australia.

Shardul :woot: expect 2 wickets of the tail in the first innings , 1-2 smooth skiers held safely and 40(28) type knock in the first innings.

If he lasts through the test will let you know how the 2nd innings goes. Our very own bowling

I ll anyday take it. Heck i ll take 25 from him. In aus runs from tail is gold dust. Do u know the 19 run partnership was invaluable between umesh n ashwin. It stalled the progress of aussies and instead of 100 we got 131 lead. Imagine chasing 105 and 19/2 in melbourne. Squeaky bum time

Selecting Shardul will be disappointing and retrograde.   As in the past, we will be selecting mediocre 'all round' type of players to cover all bases and will end up covering nothing.

We should stick to selecting specialists who will probably perform well in their field rather than jobbers who probably will suck at everything.
