Surely they knew about this before the tour. If they think this is bad they might as well call off the two England series, both in India and the UK, now, as they’ll be in those conditions for weeks during those series

I don't think ECB would like to lose so much revenue.

QLD have imposed new rules now. Given how serious the pandemic is, it's better for the city to cancel all public events including sporting events.

Indian team will be happy to play at MCG/SCG. Gabba cannot expect to host us at their own whimsical rules. They do not want us, that's fine. Their loss.

3 days gap between 3rd and 4th test. They'll probably land in Brisbane 1.5 days before start of the test. 4-5 days of play and then they'll fly back to India a day or two later. So why can't they follow strict rules for those 1.5 days, not like they will be attending U2 concerts during match days. Disgraceful if they chicken out of the Gabba test.

They might have no choice, it’s up to the government how the series can be played, in England obviously. Same

conditions are being used in India as well though

The rules may have changed, but they must have had in the back of their minds that this could happen. The situation is changing rapidly and has been for 10 months

We lost at Perth last time on a bouncy pitch. Aussie batters this series are better too. Even in 2015, we struggled badly at Gabba against extra bounce of Johnson and Hazelwood.

Our full strength bowling would not struggle as they are as good as Aussie bowlers if not better.

Current lot may be slightly weaker as we are missing all 3 of our frontline Pacers.

The boxing day pitch was not flat by any means. It had good variable bounce.

Doesn't matter. WHO recommends masks. A public figure appearing without mask and talking about covid rules looks silly. There was so much arrogance in her voice

I do hope BCCI sticks to its stand and comes back if needed. We do not owe Aussies anything

Not without public transmission. Why would you wear masks with no covid cases?

QLD (with zero cases) wants anyone traveling from NSW to get tested and self isolate till negative tests. Which means players have to in strict bio bubbles immediately after landing in Sydney (or maybe from Melbourne itself). No wonder our players are not okay with this idea.

QLD authorities in any case do not want us going by the arrogant tone of their local MP. They do not want us, we should say no to them. Sounds perfect to me. If CA can get MCG/Adelaide/SCG to hold the test, then it's okay else we fly back. Again sounds reasonable to me.

To add, QLD did not allow Ind and Aus players coming back from IPL to quarantine and train in Brisbane earlier. Else large part of the LOIs would have been played at Gabba and not at SCG. Why even go to Brisbane now if the local govt makes you feel so unwelcome.

Then QLD Govt should openly say we cannot allow the test to go ahead rather than putting unreasonable restrictions and then blame the visitors.

If there is no public transmission and masks are not needed then why make so much fuss over indoor vs outdoor catering! Masks to me are needed as a precaution even when there are zero cases. Seen many staff members and the spectators wearing it in BBL. And public figures like MPs should be wearing it when coming to PCs, that too when their sermon is about covid rules.

One 14 day quarantine has to be followed by both teams when they arrive in the other's country.

After that ... if both teams follow the laid down protocols, it should not be a problem.

Why should govt be the bad guys in this situation. Let the Indian team say that they can't stay inside hotel for couple of days and hence want chicken out of Gabba match

I think we would have..  I watched Aussies batting in Perth last time closely.  There guys are used to cut & pull strokes more than us..  Plus there bowlers were getting more out of Perth pitch due to their height..  Making our scoring incredibly difficult.  Kohli scored a freakish ton somehow to give some respectablity to our total.

Tim Paine is excellent on Backfoot & So are Smith & Warner & he has troubled on two fast surfaces back to back in Perth & Adelaide.

Without our first Choice bowling attack It will be difficult to match Aussie bowlers hostility in Gabba & I think TM knows that well.   Also Runs flow easily in Gabba as players like to ride on the bounce to play those horizontal bat strokes..  Something that Indian bowlers have nullified on other surfaces Bharat Arum in last tour explained briefly how Indian bowlers took out their cut & pull.  If weather stays well in Sydney & our batters apply well..  We will be 2-1 up.  In Gabba there is always a different story.

Is Smith better at pull shots? He has struggled against shortball in England and against Wagner. Even Marnus Labuschagne didn’t look that comfortable against short-balls in this series.

Coming to Warner, I believe he was bounced last time in Dharmashala and that too by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

Even in Perth match we lost in 2018, our bowlers were troubling their batsmen pretty well and even hit a few of them If I remember correctly. And we have won in WACA in 2008 during monkey gate series against a much superior Aussie batting with an inferior bowling unit.

I would say we would do fine if we win the toss and bat first.

Its not the bouncer but extra bounce from short of length that taller Aussie bowlers will get at Gabba which has troubled our batsmen.

Yes exactly Jamieson type. Saying that its a masterstroke from TM. The whole focus shifts from the fan exposed dinner party saga to Brisbane. It has put direct pressure so that even a minister spoke out. Now this will play out in public and queensland government will be riled. In 24 hours the whole dynamic has changed. NSW ie sydney will be chomping to get the 4th test as its administrator already mentioned they are ready. Wah Ravi bhai vah. Played one city against another. Hats off to your single malt..

Chicken out? Err, QLD denied hosting the Indian team after IPL to quarantine and train in Brisbane, else most of the LOI series and first test would have been at Gabba. So much for chickeing out!

Indian team never had an issue, QLD Govt had issues back in October end, they have an issue now. They should be more clear rather than out the onus on the Indian team. BTW QLD hasn't hosted any cricket this summer. Local govt. has rightly prioritised public health. They should stick to having no sporting events without any ifs and buts.

They are hosting bbl right now. They are just asking both teams to remain in hotel for two days before the start of the match. Why can't they stay in for two more days and complete the trip?

Well by that logic we have seen Rahane Vihari  all got out to short pitch stuff.  Wagner troubled Smith but he troubles everyone.  It's not about short stuff..  It's about the extra spice that these Aussie pacers generate due to their height & it's tough.  Even look the way Paine was leaping to carry their deliveries.  I doubt any team can match that.  Our guys have different strengths & even likes of Ishant & Shami are missing.  Plus they like the ball coming on..  The inns that Paine played in Perth in 2nd inns was basically the reminder that these guys love cut & backfoot strokes & he did the same in Adelaide.  That's why they are always keen to play in GABBA regardless of opposition.  Our current bowling line up is under strength & I think Ishant is being dearly missed coz of his extra height & bounce that he causes trouble.

The indoor eating is not an issue at the place where they were eating. What the restaurant did was legal. The indoor eating is only an issue because they players are crossing state borders. So QLD is worried about players bringing it from outside. Also the indoor eatong is just an agreement between CA and BCCI and the austrlaian government doesn't mandate it.

But even after generating that extra bounce they couldn’t get Indian team under 200 even with no kohli just like how we have did to them all this series. What I am trying to say is that their batsmen are in no better position to play bounce than ours. And Ashwin is in great from this series and can trouble them especially if they are batting second. And like I said, we won in 2008 in WACA against much superior Aussie batting side with an inferior bowling lineup.
