What a batsman! I have not seen any Indian batsman play such impactful knocks esp. under pressure ...  Just in the last 2 years or so has played knocks such as the 132* in Eng, the series in Aus in 2018 (esp. the knock at Adelaide), the series in Aus in 2020, etc., and now today holding the fort  :clap2:

I will repeat, I have not seen an Ind test batsman like Pujara since 1990 ... Give me Pujara + youngsters like Gill & Pant, and Sehwag over any Ind batting combination anyday .... in Pujara we trust :hatsoff:

The double century in Ranchi, back in 2017 has to be up there imo. I came across an interview roughly a week back, where he rates that series as the toughest he's played in his career. Proper test match batsman.

The guy played 525 balls in that innings!:hatsoff:

Whether we can save this test depends entirely on his innings here.

always believed  both Pujara & Rahane has been  atleast a  bit off from  being adequate for an all round  dominating team. Today is another evidence...  Rahane got out  cheaply and Pujara can't convert his  50s.... Dumbass arrogant captain  adding to the woes ...Indian  team  currently is riding on the fearless exuberance of the rookies..

That is the plain truth..

You need a great ball or some dumb luck to get Pujara out ... As long as he is at the crease, Ind is always in with a chance!

Correct. I find it hard to criticize him because he puts a large value on his wicket. If he gets out, more often than not, it is to a good ball. Pujara is a national treasure. Too bad there are just passengers around him. If he had not held the fort in Gabba, the win would not have been possible.

Stop mentioning Rahane & Pujara is same breath. Pujara is definitely a notch above Rahane as test batsman..

He didn’t throw it away, unfair to blame Pujara to not convert his 50 to 100 in this case, hugely unlucky

I'm liking Pujara + Pant combination, Not many might have noticed but these two have quite a few good partnerships to their names- No.3 & No.6 batsman. Even in Sydney test 2018, they had very good partnership. Today's was also great partnership, Luck was on Bess' side otherwise we could have witnessed another marathon partnership from these 2 just like he did with Saha against Australia.

Pant + Pujara combination is like applying fire + ice on the opposition ... Also recently, Pujara has been great batting with the lower middle order and tail too (carried his bat in Eng, 9th man out in Adelaide in 2018, Sydney 2018 and 2020, ...)

Pujara has his own method, works well for him. Pujara has always been good with tailenders since starting, it is just that we are winning now more often that it is being noticed. He bailed out us vs England in famous Mumbai test in 2012 adding 160 with last 4 batsmen where Ash scored 60 odd in 1st inning,  Also carried the bat on not-so flat track of Colmbo in decider against SL in 2015. If India wants to draw this test, the only batsman we can bank upon is Pujara.
