Given what happened in Australia, England won't feel comfortable setting anything less than 450 to chase. That means they'll bat most of Day 4. India can survive 1 day. They know with this crumbling pitch they don’t require 450. If they do bat that long gives us a chance to draw but slim ...again would depend on Rohit king julien norunhane and Pujara . DeepSpace Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 India will fold like a picnic chair. After all Kohli is in charge. England will not enforce follow on. Get some quick runs to set a target of about 500 runs in 5 sessions and then unleash the cobra! And Bess is the Bomb yo, on wearing fifth day wicket.

Jay Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I would not be surprised one bit if India chase even 400 plus down. England won't declare so quickly. Pant factor is there. That's if they get us all out.
zen Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 (edited) It would depend upon how the pitch behaves on day 5 ... Usually, the 2nd innings score is lower than the first so if Ind gets 300 in its 1st, it is likely that it won't be able to score more than that in the 2nd unless something unusual happens (outlier tests such as Kolkata 2001 for e.g.) If Ind gets bowled out for 325 or less, Eng can afford to give follow on (assuming that bowlers are eager to go back in the heat) as Ind is more likely to get bowled out for 325 or less (unless as mentioned something unusual happens), leaving Eng with less than 100 to chase Edited February 8, 2021 by zen

India can retaliate. Din't India score more in the second innings of Gabba ? Well at least matched in with 3 wickets to spare.

Anything can happen in cricket/sports but the most likely scenario is that teams score less in their 2nd innings. As mentioned, if Ind gets bowled out for 325 or less, chances are Ind would score 325 or less in their 2nd inning (unless the pitch becomes easier to bat for some unknown reasons), which means Eng would be ok with scoring 100 or so (even less) whether they decide to bat in the 3rd or 4th innings
Lone Wolf Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Bess is such a joke.. I've never seen a frontline spinner who has little control over his lengths in a long time. Tells a lot about how pathetic Kohli Rahane are against spin. They are not even fit enough to tie shoelaces of SRT & Dravid. Both midgets need to use either sweep or try to reach at pitch l or better step out & play occasionally.

England will score quickly adding another 175 runs in 1.5 sessions, giving India to bat for 10 overs. India will have to bat out 5th day, which is possible if the pitch behaves well. But I am not sure that'll happen. Same script unfolding. Sonix768 1
Norman Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 India all out for 225. Too much turn out there. Leach will pick a fifer.

It ll take 50 overs. India will be given 85 overs to chase 375 which India will bail our from as it is too steep. Things starts happening in chennai in day 5! We all know that.. most of it came right except indias total. Exactly as i Predicted 375 in around 85 overs. Samcric and nevada 2
