  1. 1. Is Pant closest to Sehwag?

Rishabh really looks like the spiritual successor to Sehwag's school of batting through & through. Of course people don't remember this but Sehwag before his triple in Multan played a lot like Pant, or more Pant like Sehwag. It was only post 2007-08 did he go into T20 mode even in tests, that arguably brought about his downfall later on!

In terms of aggression and approach to batting, yes.  But in terms of impact on team fortunes, there is no comparison.  Pant is in his own stratosphere.

In a span of 2 months, he has taken immense responsibility and picked up the team, and carried them on his shoulders.  Under tough batting conditions in matches with so much on the line.  The pressure that the team was under each time he walked in and the 180deg change he effected in every case - there are no encomiums that will do justice to what this young man has done so far - epoch making, riveting, historic stuff.

So, you can call me an effin jazbaati if you'd like, but no one in the history of cricket has done what this guy has done for his team so many times.

Pant has much more compact and technically correct game.

Best part of his innings was how he negotiated Anderson's tricky spell early in his innings.

Sehwag was, and still to this day is, the greatest STB of all time . Pant has proved himself several time already in Aus and England and he has just begun.

In terms of a daring approach to the game, both are similar. They play the game like it's a sport to be enjoyed, not some out of syllabus exam you are going to fail at. Also, both have a high cricketing IQ.

Pant bats a lot like left handed Sehwag, playing inside the line & those lofted shots! Except the square cut/drive which Sehwag hammered & sweep, which Pant uses more often, their game is really similar.
