That is how it has been usually. Let's see how the numbers shape up in the next few days. The fatality count hasn't fallen by much because, well, the virus doesn't not work on weekends. That said the numbers have fallen vis a vis mid April. Hopefully this downward trend continues and we don't let down our guard. No new bad news in my circle since past week. There was a guy a couple of years youngers than I, with whom I played as a child. He was diagnosed with Covid and after 3 days of hospitalization was well on his way to recovery from Covid and suddenly his condition went south. There was a cytokine storm situation and it resulted in a multi organ failure. He didn't make it. He was 31. Married, with a 1 year old daughter. He had quit his job to start a venture in the Edu-tech industry and had even managed to secure some funds for his portal. He wasn't particularly unhealthy. He wasn't fatter than most and I don't think he had a family history of diabetes. Basically in the game of genetic lottery, you could say that he was lucky. Yet he perished. That is what makes Covid so scary. You don't know what particular type you have to aspire to be from a health point of view to survive. It's not about how good immune system is but how it reacts to the virus. Overreaction of immune system is what brings cytokine storm. It starts killing our own healthy cells. Its a bit insensitive but , I was talking to my local frnds( some being docs graduated and worked in India before moving here). As per their guess, they think Indias medical infra is very very poor compared to here. When vaccination started in UK, it was to vulnerable front line staff and then frontline staff and vulnerables( any age). Difference is, In India, no one is classed vulnerable or people with medical history as there is no history till you reach 50. Only when people reach near retirement age, they come to know that they suffer from bp, cholesterol, heart, lung, kidney or diabetes issues. As an example, i take regular medication to a ailment for past 8+ years and so are many of my frnds. My point was that there was nothing (outwardly) to show that if someone in the pink of health (like this person) contracted covid they would need be hospitalized and wouldn't be asymptomatic. The cytokin storm was the body's haphazard response to its initial poor immunity to the virus. Stan AF 1

One of my distant relatives (cousin's in-laws) died 3 days back , 32-33 yo, 2 yr old son, somewhat obese....his oxygen level had come back to normal but again deteriorated , then he suddenly suffered clot in brain (paralysis) and died the same Night. rising Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I had colleague who's relatives had completed their vaccination (Covidshield) and then caught Covid and expired and there people who are testing negative even though they CovID and then get hospitalized and find they COVID due to scan One of my friends doctor who cough virus and recovered, doctor suggested to take care all preventive action like before as he not sure if he is immune other variant or what variant So its full of confusion nobody sure what variant is causing what symptoms and are vaccines still effective with new variants if anybody would shed light on that it would be great

Period. However, it’s no guarantee. Under certain circumstances, you could contract and be serious. But it’s a very small percentage.

I believe vaccine are effective but we shouldn't certainly assume it will fully effective against all variants without research, we can only hope
