So heard immunity is quite risky because variant would cause more damage if they were so prevalent and are formed so easily.

Better or ahead of the curve. You have to have recovery and handling process, MH and Mumbai reported more cases for the nation first and now they are declining. Others are catching up. Lockdown and guidelines will help contain the O2 and Meds needs.

Indian citizens can't wait forever for union government to give vaccines and state governments will try and do whatever it is in their power to get vaccines. Vaccinating everyone and quickly doing so is the only way forward.

 

P.S: State governments are trying to do the right thing for their people by getting vaccines. If you guys don't like it, stay out of it. The better question is why were the states forced to do this?. States wouldn't have been pushed to this extreme measure if not for some brain dead planning by the central government. People questioning this are not a part of the solution but a part of the problem.

Most of your posts you abuse the Central Govt and pardon the states. Agreed that most of the blame goes to them. but they tried to delegate some reponsibility to states back in Feb. States and peoplesat on their asses as well.  Your agenda is clear. If elections were stalled, there will be outcry of federalism and fascist governments. Law and Order for gatherings is also a state subject. Don't have a single track mind.

I don't say it is entirely responsible for starting it. it probably expedited to unprecedented level.   In 5 days over 1700 infected. Look at the chain reaction they could have caused.  I blame other such gatherings as well. This is such a reckless gathering. No mask. No social distancing.I say 1700 is a conservative number. It is potentially far more than that given the transmission rate of COVID.  Election rallies. I blame every single gathering.  This is by far the largest gathering in a single place. Obviously it will be the focus. We blamed all such gatherings in USA as well.  All gatherings with no mask around the world were blamed.

That too. All gatherings must be blamed.  We don't have to be defensive about any gathering. I blame my own relatives for such gatherings. We lost our aunt due to that.

All these things don't matter because there is vaccine shortage everywhere. Even if they order now, it will take a few months before they get them. And I can bet no state govt will get pfizer and Moderna, dollar 50 vaccines along with logistical problem. You are not seeing the reality, instead living in la la land.

 

J&J don't have the capacity to manufacture. They are looking to do that in India. For that, they are doing bridging trial. Same with Sputnik that will be manufactured by Reddy's in India. No country will give us vaccines at this point. They are procuring first for themselves like India have banned SII from sending vaccines to Astra Zeneca as that's company's liability.

Deaths will lag cases by around 2 weeks. 

 

We are around 4000 deaths officially. Unofficially I think around 15 to 16k people are passing away as a direct or indirect result of this wave. 

 

Official deaths will rise to around 5000 before dipping drastically. So it does meet my end of June timeline that India will be out of the woods for the second wave.

 

The aim should be to fully vaccinate those above 45 by the end of August before a third wave hits. 

End June is definitely on target. I think we should not extend any lockdown beyond May. We have a windows of 4 months after June before next wave. It’s certainly coming.

I think localised lockdowns are the way forward. Even for the third wave.

 

Cases are currently in decline in places like maharashtra and guj. But rising sharply in tn and karnataka.

I dont think maharashtra handled it well at all.

 

It was just hit first and now is also out of the quagmire first. First it first out

 

This wave has just hit karnataka which will be one of the final places in india to get over the second wave. The west and north will exit the covid wave first.

@G_B_ What do you think the impact of this will be politically ? Seems like the opposition can be energised by this. The other view is India moves on quickly from these events. Things don’t stick and nobody is looking good in this situation.
