Water is a big problem in Lansdowne.

It is not so bad now. Roads are usually good or getting repaired ( tough to maintain ). There are enough petrol pumps but one had to keep a track of where the next one is. Medical facility is a big problem unless one is close to a city. But the air is so fresh, it adds a few good years to ones life.

The trick is to move there when one is fit and ready to enjoy nature. Not when one gets old and have a few medical conditions already . Life is definetely tougher .

Best is to have two living places. One small one in the hills that is easy to maintain, and another closer to a city . Enjoy the nature and keep your appointments with the doctors too.

There is always some give and take when it comes to living in a less populated far flung place.

You do miss out on some happeningness or have to wait for days  or months to get something which you can get within hours in a city.

It all depends what you prefer more.

It's better to choose a place which isn't too far from the city. My resort is just 45 km from my home, nearest town is 30 km.

to the people who wants to retire in places like ooty ( shimla , coorg , manali , kodaikanal etc etc ) , its good to stay there for 1/2 weeks in summer and 2/3 days max in other seasons , we will be terribly bored if we overstay there :((

Have to plan for activities of interest apart from staying

- walking,- reading - internet - social activities - pursuing higher education - wfh - connecting with people etc.

We can’t retire and have a vacation. Have to live there

Blue point is my home, red one is the resort I made

Do you have a time share model for investment? This Covid is bad for any plan for vacation or retirement

I absolutely love snow.

I am afraid that it is difficult for friends in India/Pakistan to understand this madness of loving snow and taking bath in ice cold water.
