Moochad Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 (edited) Similar players. Neither are in Smith-Kohli tier but both great batsmen at what they do Shadow edit by op adding Rahane. Rahane has the best overseas record, but he doesnt score big runs anywhere and has a poor home record Edited June 19, 2021 by Moochad
maniac Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 I would still back Williamson over the other 2 in crunch situations.

Rahane scored century in Australia in crunch situation in recent tour. Pujara won 2 series, won test in SA. Which crunch situation Williamson has performed in?

Majestic Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 OP created something similar regarding Stokes last time and he played a good knock. This time Williamson will do the trick and hurt our chances.

Expect him to be dropped in this England tour itself. Kohli has already singled out Pujara for WTC loss, the likely Eng series loss will be blamed on Rahane. Do remember after the loss in Chennai tests, Kohli came out in 'defence' of Rahane. Had we lost another test there, Rahane would have been thrown out there and then. He targeted Rohit before the Aus series, didn't want him there, dropped him from first 2 Eng T20s, Pujara is most likely gone. I'm surprised he hasn't started targeting Ashwin, another potential threat to his Test captaincy. The day Ashwin's name comes in the reckoning, media will start talking about his poor fitness. This phase wud be the true test of him, coz now begins transition phase. Ideally pujara or rahane arent even 35+ that u can think they are completely done n dusted. Backups like KL, Mayank, Vihari, Shaw have their own share of weakness for test cricket. So i dnt expect them to be consistent either, but their is one thing kohli is very consistent at -loosing patience on someone. Unless u keep scoring runs, he can loose patience on you anytime. This is where dhoni settled the team before going by giving enough chances to kohli, pujara, rahane and even dhawan. Kohli cant do same, i expect a full on chaos like No. 4 position to 2019 Wc buildup unless someone pile on the runs n own a spot

Rohit also can be on thin ice in test cricket anytime in next 2 yrs. He still isnt converting his starts overseas and problem with scoring at home is the day runs dry up at home.. Pujara still had 100s in Aus, SA, Eng yet his home runs was his big saviour but the minute that dried up his place became uncertain

Even successful openers in recent times M.Vijay and Cook have below par averages. Rohit has been a revelation in Australia and nothing wrong he did in the WTC. Add to that his slip fielding, he is not going anywhere sage and Vijy 2

Cook made tons of runs in series in Aus n India Rohit has just been great in India, outside he has been ok but ok will have problem if one or two series goes bad at home. All it will take is 2 bad series
