Where was the chalta hai problem in Australia when guys representing this very same emblem beat the steepest of odds to pull off some miracles?

And then we went back to the same mediocre has beens

Totally agreed here.  And yet, it is hard not to be disappointed that justice was not done to this heart, effort and talent.  Something ain't right.  Enough evidence has accumulated now as to what that might be, but it will continue to be ignored.  And we will be left wondering about what could have been.

Of course - like I said at the top - in spite of the conditions, in spite of the toss, I still strongly believe this was a winnable game for the Indian team.  They *ed it up.

And I am disappointed like any other fan - to come this close, and lose it, to a team, that I do not think is 'better' than ours.  It rankles.

But, does this mean that Bumrah is a terrible bowler and should be "sacked" like I have read more than one person post here today?

Did you ever see me say any of these things?

This sort of dishonest railroading and gross mis-interpretation of my point, foolish strawmen, is why I often get frustrated and lose my temper with you.  I am all for differing opinions, but don't take the low road.

dude where did I say you said it? Do you have comprehension issues or don’t understand the context? the basic premise was that there is a time and place for optimism.

Good for you if you are optimistic but you don’t have to rub it in when people are expressing their displeasure. Again I am not saying you are trying to rub it in but with all due respect your thread  at this particular point if time  is pretty annoying. Had this been after the first 1-2 games of WTC you would have had a point but the tournament is over what optimism are you expecting?

Why should bumrah be undroppable if he is out of form? For the first time we have lots of depth and  backup so we don't need to keep playing out of forn players. Plus horses for courses only helps bowlers more. Swing bowlers for swing pitches, seam bowlers for other pitches

We have young hungry players looking to make a mark. We shouldn't waste them either

I get what you're saying.

But, he should not play in the next couple of matches.  Not sacked, but definitely looked at to make sure he has healed fully, and brought back only when he is truly spitting fire again.  For his good and the team's good.

We have the luxury of having good fast bowlers on the bench.  It ain't the nineties any more.

you either don't get it, or have mal-intent in purposefully not getting it.  I have called out the problem as I see it.  If you refuse to acknowledge it, that's your choice.

As to your whiny rant on 'timing' and what you find 'annoying',  if you are a sensitive schoolboy who finds opinions and perspectives that don't mirror yours, "annoying", then you have some growing up to do.  Again, your choice.

Nobody's "undroppable".  But if genuinely think that Bumrah is a candidate for being dropped, then I'm going to end this 'discussion' right here.  Its a waste of my time.

Its not OK.Kohli did ghanta in that australian tour. Now,he is single handedly responsible for converting a team of fighters to duds.We shall see once the Egoman goes.I beleive that any team A,B,C will perform well if he isnt there.

I don’t find opposite perspectives annoying at all. I find preachy, holier than thou crap annoying especially when I am disappointed.

We lost 2 games in England 2018 because we couldnt  chase 245 and 194,Same story in SA .NZ we didnt bat well either

Its a common theme. Bowlers have been cleaning after the batsmen for too long

On these wickets? Yes yes he is. A swing bowler will make 10 tiens the difference he can on English and kiwi wickets. And have you see his record in last year and a half?

Its the typical effigy burning problem in Indian fans mindset.  Lack of objectivity and inability to take into account context.

what did you expect from this team especially after they had zero warm-up leading to this winner take all test match?  We have always been poor starters in away tours, even in friendly conditions, forget challenging ones.  None of the criticism is on that.

Folks just want to vent their disappointment and frustration by taking potshots at random players - "sack bumrah" etc.

After Aus win this is tough to take.

Specially how close this was.

But on paper we are a better team

NZ have whipped India three straight matches.  It’s painfully obvious they are the better team.

Look at his body language. It doesnt matter to him if he takes any wickets or not.Where are the lethal yorkers that he bowled for fun.He has been shyte for quite sometime now.He needs to be given a signal that there are hungry bowlers ready to play for India. He isn't indispensable.

I find it strange that India almost always chokes in knockout or pressure situations nowadays.

2014 WT20 Final

2015 World Cup Semi Final

2016 WT20 Semi Final

2017 Champions Trophy Final

2019 World Cup Semi Final

2021 World Test Championship Final

This is now an actual pattern and not any coincidence. I think the big factor is Kohli and the nervousness and muddled thinking he brings to the team which is causing panic in dressing room.

How else do you explain Kohli captaining first test in Australia and there was collapse and lost ? Then when he left, India won 2/3 games and won the series without even half the regulars.

I really think India will bottle the 2023 World Cup in knockout stage as well with this bozo as the captain and perhaps lose to Pakistan also.

Also, nobody seems to have any accountability for these losses. Hardly any changes at all. Its as if some players get a free pass to play as long as they like without any consequences. For instance, Pujara and Rahane. They have been poor for a long time, but because they dont threaten Kohli's captaincy they are allowed to continue in the team. Because if any youngsters rise up, they may pose a threat. Its all a political game played by Bewda and Lawda at the cost of Indian cricket.

India has better spin bowling. Other than that, NZ are better in every category.

Firstly the WTC will be only a one off game was known how many months/years ago?

Last time I checked this wasn’t a surprise that Indian team was hit with. Was it?

Bumrah or Rohit or Kohli or Pujara don’t take a pay cut because they are adapting to the conditions. They are expected to perform as professionals from ball 1.

How does it concern me if they are not prepared?

as an emotional investment I am not ok with a loss. Sure if this was a best of 3, I would give the team some leeway but it isn’t.

The points you are making should come from Ravi Shastri when he is explaining the loss to BCCI bosses not a fan who is emotionally invested. You are entitled to your opinion but there is no glory or excuse in defeat. This isn’t even a one off, this performance has been recurring.

we have pacers for SC and Aus conditions. And batsmen who play bounce better

We won in Aus while they were whipped

NZ couldnt even beat SL in SL
