asterix
You can’t rely on him as a senior bowler to create chances. He can keep bowling those tight overs and few lucky wickets but I’m sorry him playing Test cricket any more will keep harming the team. And I’ll say the same for Bhumrah etc, too. You might get some occasional wickets but the team needs bowlers on whom you can trust they’ll create chances and will keep taking wickets. Ishant in playing only because in Indian cricket you’ve to support the household of senior Mediocre players till they retire and being friends of Captain. Im pretty sure this eternal mediocre bowler will play the England series and will just be a passenger. Can’t bat or field too. His supporters too don’t have much expectations from him. All they want us “couple of wickets every innings” from him. Get new blood in who are willing to try various things to take wickets… Lone Wolf, speedheat, Sandeep99 and 3 others 5 1 Link to comment
Suhaan
Ishant doesn't even regularly feature in IPL matches, but gets picked each season I have been noticing many Indian middle aged cricketers are not inspired enough to play/represent India anymore This is some psychological problem where we see guys getting easy money bowling 4 overs or bat for mere 30-50 deliveries This is no randi rona ,one of our best pace bowler has not even looked shadow of his own self from the past, has been underperforming in KOs BCCI should inspire/reward players representing India in a manner so that they don't loose motivation in the biggest stage raki05, asterix and express bowling 3 Link to comment
asterix
^^^ Ishant has no lack of motivation. He’s actually mediocre and not good enough to lead the bowling team. Every top team has a senior lead bowler who strategises, advices younger bowlers and overall leads by example. Take Southies, Anderson/Broad etc. Ishant is at the most a passenger and only playing because he’s friends of Kohli and hails from Delhi… Edited June 24, 2021 by asterix Suhaan and raki05 2 Link to comment
goose
Agreed a million times. India cannot beat Eng over 5 tests, with Ishant. It can’t be done. Everyone else is fine. asterix and raki05 2 Link to comment
asterix
There are many Kohli fans who support Ishant’s selection just to justify Kohli’s idiotic team selections and frandship with Ishant. You’ll also notice that all Kohli fans don’t rate the Australia series win much. They’ll try to portray it as a one off lucky win. They’ll also treat this final test as one off and not to be taken seriously. After England series loss too they’ll say it’s just a random series loss… raki05 and sorak 1 1 Link to comment

express bowling
Ishant has not looked fully fit in the last 2 years. Loses steam after a few overs. Has missed a lot of series as well as matches. We need to replace him with Siraj in the 5 test series in England. Prasidh and Avesh need to be tried against weaker teams. raki05, asterix, Suhaan and 1 other 4 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Injuries have finally taken a toll. Which is why playing hm in all 4 home tests vs England was a foolish selection. Was deliberate so as Siraj could be kept out. What a pity that Siraj didn't get to play in the WTC final after what he did in Australia. sorak, Gollum, asterix and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Sandeep99
I wonder how this perennial loser never bowled a single outswinger in his career spanning 100 tests over 14 years. I mean, do they work on their game anymore after getting into the team? It was just plain embarrassing to see the rookie Kyle Jamieson snaking the ball both ways while this mediocre fool was trundling the same innocuous inswinger ball after ball. It's a pity because Siraj can form that fast bowling partnership with Shami where both can hunt wickets together. raki05, goose and asterix 3 Link to comment

Bhumrah shouldn’t play any more tests. He’s not a test level bowler. Keep him to LOIs to elongate his career else he’ll burn out soon. I want Natrajan or any Lefty pace bowler (not Unadkat please) in the team for variety in attack. For immediate Eng series, Id like Siraj, Shami, Natrajan & Pandya in the Test team. Ishant & Bhumrah should be dropped. But these are wet dreams. Won’t happen with Shastri-Kohli duo around. Link to comment
speedheat
Ishant and 2 spinners were atrocious selection Kohli is clueless in this regard. Lone Wolf
Ishant was slower than Southee at times & didn't move the ball much. His pace has dropped sharply & drastically. He was much quicker vs Eng in 2018. I think he should be replaced with Shardul. Our Tail badly needs someone to hold the bat. Bumrah's form need to be looked at closely. Siraj has to come in vs England. Gollum 1 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Shardul Thakur after his gutsy performance vs Australia has gone 5 tests without being even in the 15. This is the level of decision making captain clown and coach loudmouth do. He may turn out to be below par but he has earned himself a few opportunities. England series at home was a great opportunity to play him, pacers were not expected to do much, we could have seen how Shardul responds to the challenges of playing in India. But the idiot captain decided to play Ishant in 4 back to back test matches. Said it at the time of the England tests, Sundar, Siraj and That should have been the first names for all 4 tests. Was captain's headache how to rest his seniors. Instead he benched these juniors and has now been royally repaid for his idiocy.
