More misses than hits as career progresses. You can’t have players like that as leaders. Had he moved away from the CSK eco system he would have faded away a lot sooner: Raina would not be picked outside of CSK. Link to comment

This is not Loyalty, its is a result of favouritism, keeping the deserving talents out and playing your own personal favorites ahead of them, creating your own lobby within the team. On the contrary there are many former cricketers who are just as anti Dhoni as there are some of his loyalists. Nikola 1 Link to comment

But by that time they are entrenched and attached. That's how human nature works. You invest your time and energy worshiping someone, it doesn't go just because they lost power. It's like loyalty to an emperor when their supporters would die for him even when he is deposed and no longer has power. A lifetime fo devotion doesn't go away in a moment. Sunk cost falacy comes into play Dhoni was never a technical captain like kohli, he was an instinctive and people's captain and deliberately cultivated loyalty by thoroughly backing some players. And that loyalty is being repaid now. So yeah we are kinda saying the same thing but it's calcualtive, not natural But for that loyalty to start Dhoni needed to be all powerful, and he was Edited July 10, 2021 by New guy Vilander and GoldenSun 2 Link to comment

At times people are just emotional man these things happen. When they go through intense emotional scrutiny under media they tend to get comfortable or cultivated by leaders which in this case would be the captain of the cricket team or coach of a football team etc. Its normal you will see this with army team captains as well its an emotional bond like the ones kids have with parents but more fickle and benefit based since it is between adults. Austin 3:!6
Is Raina for real? He announced his retirement as soon as MSD retired. And now he wont play IPL if Dhoni dont? Lol Suresh Raina was a fine cricketer...once suppose to be the next Indian captain. But this blind worshipping of Dhoni destroyed his career. Awful stuff. Link to comment

So yeah. I personally like Dhoni better obviously. Sachin never demanded loyalty and would be first to discourage if any player said this and would ask them to respect the game . He commanded respect and love, like when kohli and players carried him on his shoulders and dedicated world cup to him. That's how you show love, not by declaring loyalty in media interviews but with your actual actions. It's a lot like it happened today with Messi and Argentina players Edited July 11, 2021 by New guy Link to comment
