He can groom a future younger captain on the side. As captain, he has an immense track record of getting the best out of the team, the chanakya-esque strategic skills, and the composure and ability to groom youngsters.

Hahane is the worst part of the XI right now. We have a middle order batsman with sub 40 average in both Tests and ODIs who seems to have cemented his spot. Its a terrible joke

 

India is supposed to have a massive pool of batting talent and yet we stick with Hahane. At least Lolhi has historical success to back him up.

More Kohli has tried to derail Rohit out of jealousy after the 2019 WC (remember the whole injury pretext using which he was kept out of Aus LOIs and then 'rested' from first few England T20Is), Rohit has risen only further up. Perfect time to make him the captain. The useless clown can go back to his clown show and play as a simple player without captaincy privileges (suite rooms on tour etc).

 

Will be a pity if one of the best and the most astute modern day cricket captains goes away without captaining India. Will be more of India's loss than Rohit's.

Yes he is the best opener in the world no doubt about it but You shouldn't be impressed by these performances he needs to score big and do it consistently, atleast ek peak to hona chahiye, also having zero hundreds away from home doesn't help, sab troll karte hai doosre forums pe.

If sacking Kohli from captain duties is going to be so difficult, India should abolish the post of the captain. Let the coach/management take all decisions.

 

Field placing. Bowling changes. Batting orders. Picking the team. It may seem difficult at first, but we won't get a hodgepodge of reactions that we now do with Kohli in charge. We will get actual proactive decisions.
