Can Indian team break Australian record of 16 consecutive test wins?

I think same English side did beat them 3-1..  Though they had Archer Stokes as well.  Ollie Pope did well there I remember.  And England historically have done well there.

I think it will be a tight series as Saffers got their mojo back in West Indies especially Rabada came back in form.

But if we get at least one practice game & pick a decent playing XI we can beat them.

South Africans hit a mental block whenever they face England or Australia at home. It's a bit strange but it's the only possible explanation. They haven't won a single series against England at home since 2000 and lost 3. Couldn't win a single home series against Australia until sandpaper gate, lost 5.

Really weird considering the fact that they usually played like world beaters in Australia and England in that time period.

Possibly achievable with good scheduling and also good weather.

Importantly that Australian team was magnificent. Superb lineup one of the best of all time. Which is why I rank Miracle of Kolkata our Greatest Ever Test Win.

This current Indian lineup has too many holes in it.

Possible but not sure if achievable under Kohli. Under him we are yet to win a proper series in Aus, BZ SA and England.

Let's not start getting too far ahead of ourselves after one brilliant test win in Eng.

Of course. We lost a test to England, when they sent one of their weakest sides to India.

That Australian team of late 90s and early 2000s had in Steve Waugh, Ponting, McGrath, Warne and a future legend in Gilly (and Hayden +  Langer) - 5 legends of the game playing together.

From our current team only Kohli is there (with Pant and Bumrah future greats). Expecting them to match or surpass the Aussies looks unreasonable expectation. In fact, they would struggle to match their own feat of 19 undefeated tests between 2015-17.

Forget winning streaks,I think we might lose the current seties ,I am no way convinced with our batting ,only a matter of time the openers start to give in !

you guys are getting carried away.We were so close to a loss at Lords had the poms bowled at the stumps on day 5.make no mistake, this teams middle order is in rapid decline and they are getting worse and we dont have any backups for them at all.

Definitely. I mean ash has got the better of Smith recently but you never know. I definitely think they can win one. Don't see a draw this time. India should win 2-1 or 3-1. Problem is india don't practice in ranji themselves.

Oh yea we do.

Gill Rahul Pant Is our future middle order.

We actually don't have number 2 and 3.

Rahul is not an opener. He is far better in middle order.

I would blood in eeshwaran and 2 and bring back Vihari at 3 to do pujara role or mayank if you want more of an explosive batsman. Mayank only has trouble with new ball. He can smash smash balls get old. I still think mayank has potential. He needs to change his odi stance though.

Trust me when I say we are NOT winning 16 in a row with a batting order that has Pujara,Kohli and Rahane in that order.

It WONT EVER HAPPEN.

India may win 16 in a row, but not until the lineup is changed.

rahul is an opener. he has continuously opened in age-levels and in domestics. we should keep him at opening and the other opener can be shaw/easwaran. No. 3 should be vihari, No. 4 might be Gill (if he sorts out his issues), and No. 5 should be sundar.

nha man rahul cant play new ball. You will see in the next few matches unless he truly has worked on it. THE short format game imo ruined rahul's technique. he is the most skilled batsman i have ever seen since dravid. Legit serious. Rahul's potential is far far higher than anyone in the indian team along with pant.

However, he focused too much on t20 and odi which has affected his game in tests imo.

Lets see if he has addressed his technique issue and he should be the same monster he once was again.

Our openers have played one good knock each this tour, if they "give in" after this much then they belong in the gutter.

They need to score just like how Kohli did in 2018 he didn't "give in" just bcoz others couldn't score much.

No one plays the new ball well in India, Rahul is better than the other option we have. Someome has to open.

True but he can cash in if he played in MO as kohli is dreadfully out of form. Or perhaps even finished?

Rahane is useless. Pujara is ok. Does what he has to do. If he gets out he looks bad doing what he does. If he stays long enough and scores 30 or 40 odd then he looks a real hero.
