putrevus Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 Unlike previous generations of Indian batsmen who had this builtin excuse for their failures, we cannot say their batsmen are facing inferior fast bowling from India so they are scoring more runs. Indian fast bowling attack is very good compared to the English bowling attack. Indian batting has been appalling and their behinds were saved by two tailenders last test also. Lord 1

shortbread Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 India's most effective quickie on flat tracks has been Umesh Yadav. His pace is effective in conditions that provide little assistance plus he can reverse the ball when its roughened up on dry tracks. Would make sense one of either Shami or Bumrah. Playing them in all 5 tests will create fitness issues. adi B and Gollum 2
Gollum Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) If Oval is dry and our quicks are tired or need to be at their best in Manchester (6 tests in a summer is tough ask, especially given the intensity our quicks operate at), giving Umesh one test won't be a blunder @Ankit_sharma03 We know his non-SG issues, overseas woes, but if there is one ground where we can take a punt it is Oval. Possible abrasive surface conditions, and this venue has seen reverse swing in the past, Pakistan has an excellent test record here (won 5 including in 2010 & '16, lost 3). Also it seems there is going to be heatwave in London this week. Edited September 1, 2021 by Gollum adi B and Lone Wolf 2
Gollum Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 James Anderson Could Be Rested For The Oval Test 'The Times' saying Robinson could be rested. Perhaps an early indication of playing conditions in T4. Woakes will definitely play, and Wood has recovered from the shoulder injury. Curran will be useless on that dry track.

With guys like shardul, ashwin, siraj u knw they ll compete no matter what . Umesh i hve never been able to trust anywhere outside india. Off lately i dnt even remeber him running up n cranking it. England is a team that u can rattle with pace n aussies will do that in ashes. Rest u never know, rohit sharma is proving us wrong. With series hanging in balance i dnt think anyone will be rested bas rest ke naam pe ishant drop hoga.
Redk84 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Personally would bring Ashwin and a batsmen into the team Kohli and India embarrassed themselves in the last match so need to be on point from the get-go starting with the selection Reckon only Ashwin will come in though Austin 3:!6 1
Austin 3:!6 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Open the match thread anyone pls. Who has got good record? I think @zen @coffee_rules are pretty good.
SRT100 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 KL Hitman Pujara Kohli Vihari Pant Jaddu Ash Thakur Bumrah Siraj Lord 1
Gollum Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 If after 78 ao, 63/8 there is no change in top 7 tomorrow I reckon BCCI must sack captain and coach same day itself. Imagine a serial non-performer like Rahane continuing to get a free ride while we chop/change our bowlers every damn test.
The Realist Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna has been added to India's squad for the fourth Test against England, starting Thursday (September 2). The decision was taken following request from the Indian team management, BCCI said in a statement on the eve of the game. Prasidh was one of the standby players on the five-Test tour and had been training and travelling with the team since the start of the trip. Uncapped in Tests, Prasidh made his India debut in the home series against England in March this year and has played only three ODIs so far for the country. Meanwhile, Cricbuzz understands Ravindra Jadeja's knee injury isn't a serious cause of concern and the all-rounder will be available for selection. https://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/118826/prasidh-krishna-added-to-indias-squad-for-the-oval-test-india-cricket

nitinbwj Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 NZ wickets aren't spin friendly. It swings and seams like crazy. Why do we have to flatter the visitors? Ground them to dust. NZ is getting smacked and I like it.

In Tests it is totally okay.. Heck even in ODIs spinning wickets are good. But T20s on Day 10 pitches it is ridiculous. Home advantage being taken well beyond the extreme limits.

ODI also is now an extension of t20 Bangladesh doesnt have the ability to go much above 300 They have no X factor in batting
