Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, believes the Old Trafford Test between England and India should be "cancelled", not postponed.

Ganguly added that whenever a one-off Test between England and India is eventually scheduled, "it cannot be a continuation of the series" that ended prematurely when India opted against taking the field last Friday.

How can any sane idiot say it is continuation of this series after two years. This series is done and dusted. The fifth test has to be either part of new series or a standalone test.

it ll be done after exactly 9 months.. if multi million dollar ipl can be postponed no harm jn having a test after 9 Months. Or do you prefer to have this match forelfeited without playing.. if that happens why would india play a one off test anyways.. just to make good losses after forfeiting a test.

Are serious? How are you comparing a tournament to one off test.

Did we Covid before 2020? Did we have cancellations of whole tours before except ww2. These are uncertain times ..

Wtf. Expected better from Ganguly. Last match was abandoned/cancelled. India won 2-1.. Get on with it.

Icc in all eventuality will rule in favour of England. The adjudicator is a british qc. There is no appeals process. I would rather play a rescheduled test and lose than give them

walkover to become 2-2

You answered you own question. These are uncertain times and it is foolish to say we will continue to play this series  after 9 months.

So then agree to 2-2 with a forfeiture..

we dont have infinite choices..

It could be good practice for 2023 WTC Final if India reaches final again, as WTC Final is a one off test also.

Therefore, it can be part of current series (remaining match to be played next year) if the alternative is forfeiture.

I am not sure what the other option is.

Are both toi and Cricinfo sourced accurately?

That means Dada is either a fool or a liar

Toilet paper of India cannot be trusted on anything. Cricinfo and Hindu are usually accurate.

Actually no,the wtc rule clearly says that in case of covid ,the match can be cancelled irrespective of the adjudicator is british or not

There was no covid among players. Only among suppport staff. The rule says if one or more player has covid you can use covid substitutes.. here there was no player affected

Can be cancelled based on valid grounds and not on "personal opinions or feelings" of the players

This could turn out to be a case of some of these players scamming India out of a rare test series win in Eng  to fly early to UAE in time to play the first game.
