Have some of these players denied India a rare test series win in Eng?

Indian players were exposed to covid the minute Ravi shastri got Covid .

 

A covid infected person talking less than 3 ft away can get u infected as well . 
 

if they were worried about getting covid , they should have had the same feeling when shastri got infected 

 

There were enough players in touring party to put a eleven together . If they get covid during the game so be it . 
 

Indian team bought Covid into the test series . BCCI and team india should acknowledge that . 
 

Team india consciously pulled out of the last test when they could have put eleven together for the test . If we lost the game so be it . 
 

Dravid did the same thing in the last two t20’s in Srilanka . 
 

Bottom line , Team india pulled of the test match . The players who took the decision have not provided a public statement on why they did it .

 

As loyal fans of Team we deserve the transparency from the Team . They are a Team because of fans in this Forum .

 

They cannot just walk away from the mess they created in the first place to go play another tournament hoping that People's memories are short . 
 

There is not liability or accountability in the entire organization be it the Team or BCCI. 
 

A forfeit in my opinion is the right result for the lack accountability that this team and BCCI has prolonged for all these years . Just walking way is not acceptable. 

 

If forfeit is not acceptable then , the coach , captain , manager and vice captain should be made unavailable for selection in ipl and international cricket for at least an year .

 

developing accountability should be the most thing that comes out of this fiasco .

BCCI is setting a wrong precedent , any team can pull away from test series when they are leading for any reason from now on ..

• Ind is ok to play a test on its next tour to Eng, counting it as the rescheduled 5th test. Beside the test, India is also willing to play extra T20s (so some of these players have put India in a fix)

 

The England board has written to world body ICC seeking adjudication to decide the status of series which India led 2-1 when the fifth and final Test in Manchester was called off.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly though said on Monday that the series, stopped after four Tests, isn’t over yet. “The rescheduled Test match (yet to be finalised) next year should be considered the fifth Test of the series,” he said. “India has the chance to win a series in England for the first time after 2007. The series should be completed.”

While ECB has welcomed BCCI’s proposal to play a Test during India’s scheduled white-ball tour of England next July, its CEO Tom Harrison has said that Test can only be treated as a “standalone” match.

ECB’s view differs. “It wasn’t the outbreak of Covid, it was the perception of what might happen post their (India’s) physio testing positive,” Harrison told Sky Sports last week.

The Indian board is also willing to play extra T20Is in England to help them recover the losses. “Playing extra limited-overs matches is not an issue. But the final Test should be the decider,” Ganguly said on Monday.

India are keen to claim their first series win in England for 14 years to go with their second successive triumph in Australia. Virat Kohli’s side had the momentum heading to Old Trafford after a brilliant victory at the Oval.

Indian players pushed for cancelling the final Test worried more could test positive for Covid due to close contact with physio Parmar. Some former England players have been critical, saying the Test cancellation was done due to IPL, which resumes in the UAE on Sunday.

What led to the perception? Covid outbreak. If if was England in India, even 4th test wouldn't have been completed. They would have abandoned the test midway and no one would have batted an eyelid.

Everyone has to be ready for cancellation of games due to Covid outbreak. Will say again no team would play a test match the next day when their support staff is isolated and 8-10 players are close contacts.

The post you quoted highlights the preliminary positions of the two boards on the matter. If in ICC's hand, they will decide the matter ... There will be COVID cases everywhere, the degree of severity varies.

None of the players were infected after multiple testing .

they were already deemed as close contacts when Ravi shastri got infected and yet they played the fourth test . As per this arguMent , india should have taken the field on the last two days of the fourth test . 
 

covid was doing rounds in the india team long before the fifth test . Right when they went to the book signing , it’s unfortunate that the oldest members of the touring party got infected .

IMO, SL T20s should have been cancelled too because India had to field depleted teams. Here, if you exclude/isolate 10 players as close contacts, they didn't have an XI to field in test. Test negative wouldn't have mattered in this case because they could have become positive mid test and this was the biggest reason, the incubation period of the virus. Like Shastri was tested positive on 5 and Physio got tested positive on 9. So it took 4 days for physio to become positive. There was a high chance some player could have become positive during the test itself leading to cancellation of the test. 

 

Other aspect was when Shastri tested positive, his close contacts were isolated. Same way when physio was tested positive, his close contacts would have been isolated even if they were negative at that time because of incubation period and several of the players including all fast bowlers couldn't have played the test. So there was no way they could have fielded a team the next day. Standby players like Avesh, Sundar etc had already gone back due to injuries. Jadeja was also injured. They only had probably Kohli, Rahane, Rahul, Vihari, Mayank, Shaw, Ashwin, Saha, Prasidh, Axar available to play. You couldn't play a test with this team.

Currently, the status of the series is “undecided” so what is the point of such comments.

With lockdown measures relaxed in many parts of the world, COVID cases can pop up but the game is expected to go on with players double vaccinated now. 

In many parts of the world, you are not even required to wear masks outdoors if double vaccinated.
