Colourful all-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to be sent back into the IPL auction pool by Mumbai Indians as the five-time champions are more or less sanguine about the players who are in their retention list for the 2022 season. With the IPL set to be a 10-team affair after RP-SG bought Pune and CVC owned the Ahmedabad franchises respectively, there will be a big auction in December this year with a lot of teams restructuring their core, looking at the future. However MI, one of the best IPL teams across the 14 seasons, will have their core almost same but a notable absentee could be Hardik, a flamboyant all-rounder who has of late become more of a specialist batter.

"I think BCCI will have three-player retention formula with one Right to Match card. If RTM is not there, there could be four retention. Rohit Sharma and India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah are automatic picks.

SDP should try to play for A'bad :dontknow:

There will be a bidding war for him for sure. Hope SRH doesn’t go crazy and shell crazy amounts for him

Having said that there is no guarantee he will play for A’bad.

Also Mi might go RTM for him though, so all’s not over :)

There's no way MI let Hardik go, all these 'rumors' are just that.

I mean Bombay Ambani IPL team has let a lot of stars go in the past, but in terms of Indian talent, only unproven ones.  Even all the pandya 'haters' on this forum would happily want to retain him for the IPL team they root for.  Its just "I wuz right" BS most of the time that makes them argue against the value he offers.

Which value? Ghanta value. He needs to start respecting the game & improve his game to give any value to the team.

Just what exactly is this based on?

diminsihing marginal returns since 2016. We wanted a Ben Stokes but now we have a Poor man’s Pollard. Not sure why you can’t see this.

Yes he did well in Aus in 2020 but that’s about it. 5 years don’t see the ROI, it’s only running in the red.

Do you think he deserves a A contract?

All these things add up. I don’t care how much money he makes but the hype doesn’t justify the results so far and that’s what people have an issue with.

This will go over you because you might for some weird reason think I have some thing personal against you or Pandya but clearly you can see the majority sentiment on here or on social media or even among cricket pundits.

A fully fit and prime Pandya is an asset to any LOI team. It’s a no brainer. A half-fit and washed up one playing on reputation damages the balance. That’s the summary.

its reports as of now, it ll be a KL rahul level blunder if u let him go in auction

it will be a blunder if he starts bowling again and regains batting form.

If he is at the same level he is now he will be a liability.

Thats exactly the conundrum Indian team is in right now which is damaging the balance.

Stop overhyping this guy, what has he done even in IPL so far to get all the hype. I remember a handful of performances from him. Let him win a MVP award before anointing him as an invaluable asset

Exactly u can expect such foolishness from RCB but not MI TM, they backed pollard for many yrs who himself was mighty mighty inconsistent and stopped bowling for long time.

Knowing MI they ll retain rohit, bumrah, hardik and pollatd (incase one is foreigner)  and try to buy back every player they have. Teams like MI and CSK will try to buy back as many players as they can................they believe in team building
