He'll create all sorts of mess if he is removed as the captain from other formats. Primarily because his ad contracts are tied with his captaincy and could strip off 30-35% value if he's no longer the captain. His PR and sections of mainstream media are going to create quite a scene.

Hope the BCCI remains remains firm and doesn't give into any sorts of blackmail.

That is the reason why he needs to be left out of the team right now when the sentiment is strong. Same thing happened with Dhoni who continued to play for 2-3 yrs more courtesy to backend forces.

@Norman, off-topic, but your squirrel is majestic and is making it hard to read your posts. It takes me almost twice as much time to complete reading your posts. Has anyone ever told you that?

Okay, good day. I am back into my oblivion.

Still in the realms of something that could happen, rather than something that will happen, what exactly are we gaining with this guy as Captain in LOI,freaking RCB are cutting their losses with this guy and here the national team selectors are dawdling

Azhar Ali might be comparable as a batsman to Rahane but Rahane is a proven leader. I don’t think Azhar Ali could have inspired a 3rd string team to win in Australia.

We all know how bad the coaching staff is when Kohli is captain but they miraculously came to take credit when we won and even said Kohli was giving them guidance from India and Rahane got totally sidelined and ignored. Rahane even helped save a home series win as captain. He is a calm guy and has good cricket acumen.

Too bad his form is not great but T20 is hit or miss anyways. Make him captain and let him play in a Badrinath kind of role.

Rahane is a phenomenal captain. Our players get motivated and actually want to play tough cricket for him. He treats everyone with respect u like kohli.

Problem is how do you justify his batting to be part of the test team or t20. Lol. That's the issue.

Nailed it.

Only commenting on the respecting everyone part! Agree on Rahanesbatting.

Koli always had that slight elitist mentality.

For me, India winning is all that matters. Rahane can average less than 10 for rest of his career as long as India keeps winning series after series home and especially away.

Yes but selectors won't pick players that way though. I would love that too tbh. But cmon as captain I expect you to average atleast 35 in test cricket. You got to be slightly above average at something imo. But yes rahane over kohli anyday

I won't mind Rahane the captain. Guy is level headed and proven his metal in highest format overseas. But that would be very backward decision as he isn't even in team and he is 34 ,His batting and batting position would be the major issue. Where do we bat him,Open or no.4 He can't bat lower than that for sure. In that case Iyer/Rahul (ODI 4) or One of Opener Rohit/Dhawan (Dhawan most likely) will have to make way for him. But to get rid of Kohli,I am up for it. That leechad has done nothing in ICC tourney and even Aussie series win was credited to him by coach.. About time Someone who deserves it gets it unlike Mr Wrogn who ran away from the series and laughs like an idiot after losing to arch rival.

Like I said, for me its quite amazing how cricketers and stats are looked at such myopic way. Baseball moved on more than decade back to understand the key KPIs.  What is a goal of cricket match ? To win. Does he have wins. YES. He has wins with B team against full strength Aussies side in their home ground. If selectors want a guy who averages 45 but cricket team loses, I couldn't care less.

What 45. Last 2 years more like 28 lmao. He is very lucky. Cash cow. That's the only reason. Won't be for long.

I think this thread should be made Sticky.  Right now, 99% ICFers want loli to quit LOIs, if I m not wrong.

Even tests. He has done nothing in tests tbf. We should have won or drawn vs Kiwis in WTF also atleast drawn a game away in n.z tour. He went in with no prep both times. He is useless.

I will go even further and say that in the series we won in Aus, we lost 2 stupid games. One at Perth with this man scoring century and another with 36 AO. Too much of topsy turvy type captaincy.

He is either all in or all out. Never stable by any means.
