Not sure if this is accurate, but indications were correct before he declared his stepping down from T20I captaincy.

And why should he continue in tests? He is in terminal decline, has done nothing except mooch off of others' hardwork, and distracted the team with monkey like antics and "not backing down" comments causing them to lose a test match right after winning one.

If you noticed, his up and down captaincy is now becoming more apparent even in tests when we got bowled out cheaply once in Eng. This is becoming a pattern of concern too with his volatile captaincy.

Team Ind needs a long term fix by investing in young captains for different formats. 
 

Rohit is not the real or long term answer as it could be like going to another bad phase. Doing well for an Ambani powered and visioned team and Team Ind are two different things.  One could see many opinions on Rohit taking up a spot in near future.

All this happened only under kohli across formats. not rahane. we never lost under rahane. not rohit either. we won some key tournaments like asia cup under rohit. 

 

2017 crushing defeat to pakistan in final

36 all out vs aussies

84 all out vs england 

150/0 loss to pakistan in t20

WTC final loss when a draw was on cards. meek surrender. would never have happened under rahane.

people forgot this one but we also lost to lanka in 2015 away in the first test chasing 165 rofl

vs australia in pune. lost by 332 runs at home

england in lords 2018. we lost again by an innings and 159 runs

 

i dint even include some of the other losses in t20 and odi which i am sure we have accumulated.

There is no way on earth this egomaniac is playing 2 formats under someone else's captaincy. May do a reverse dhoni and retire from white ball cricket to play only Tests and IPL until he's 40.

He is lucky people are not throwing stones in this day and age. I do not support the burning effigies and throwing stones on major defeats but it used to happen. Specially when you go laugh and enjoy with PAK players after losing a match without putting up a fight or looking like even trying.

Yes losing is ok. But I have 3 issues.

1) dint pick the best performers from ipl. 

2) never picks the right combination

3)then hugs players after an abysmal loss

He is 33. if not a second peak he won't be playing 2027 wc and 23 will be his last wc. Can't believe we don't have groomed anyone,Atleast during Dhoni's time we were assured that Kohli is certain as Captain being the best batsman.

Azhar Ali might be comparable as a batsman to Rahane but Rahane is a proven leader. I don’t think Azhar Ali could have inspired a 3rd string team to win in Australia.

 

We all know how bad the coaching staff is when Kohli is captain but they miraculously came to take credit when we won and even said Kohli was giving them guidance from India and Rahane got totally sidelined and ignored. Rahane even helped save a home series win as captain. He is a calm guy and has good cricket acumen. 
 

Too bad his form is not great but T20 is hit or miss anyways. Make him captain and let him play in a Badrinath kind of role.
