Ishan Kishan should be preferred over Pant in T-20s

Pant has to be groomed as opener.I don't think he has the game to maneuver strike in middle order.

he was an opener in U19. Then started playing in MO

Opening suits his game more. He's modelled himself more on Gilchrist than Dhoni

He will more be like Sehwag than Dhoni. He will have more success in tests than shorter formats. But he is an opener and should be tried as an opener.

Both Pant and Kishan should play.

Pant has the temperament to play and win under pressure. He played 2 good knocks in the just concluded T20 World Cup too.

And Kishan is a surreal strokeplayer when in full flow.

We have enough consolidators and big match failures who we can kick.out.

If I were a part of the TM, I would have let loose Pant, Kishan, Venkatrsh, Shaw, SKY, Hardik etc. in LOIs and told them to fearlessly  tear apart the opposition bowling as a group.

Make the opposition bowlers piss their pants at even the thought of bowling to this group of batters.

I would play Pant where he is, KL at 3 and go with opening pair of Rohit and Shaw/Kishan. Kohli has to go from T20Is, he has been a T20 legend but his fitness and focus should be now on Tests and 2023 WC.

Rohit

Shaw/Kishan

KL

Pant(wkt)

SKY

H Pandya/V Iyer

Pant going forward should be #3. He is comfortable against pace and will take them on even when an early wicket falls if its seaming around.

And he also looks better once he faces a few deliveries.

#5 is too low for him and there are lots of options to open

Kishan should open and Rahul moved to MO

These Rohit, Kohlis should be weeded out first from the shortest format, bad influence

You want a brand new good looking Phone (approach), lightning charger (mindset) and all the accessories (“exciting players”) but don’t want the proccesor/micro-chip (cap. Rohit) ?

Even as opener he needs to have that quality. Sehwag was an impressive strike rotator. He always tries to make something out of every ball. So was Warner/Gilchrist. Important of singles is grossly undervalued.  Quiet often silly low percentage shots by Pant are preceded by a series of dot balls. If he knows how to get to other end that pressure will not be there.  This weakness of Pant is being trivialized by Pant's supporters.

Hope is that inside Powerplay those hoicks would land in gaps or result in boundaries and by then he would have gotten enough runs to then play comfortably as we have seen in Tests
