Rahane was made to sit out of the Final Test against NZ for his own good. Had he failed once again , it would have been difficult to justify his inclusion in the Squad to SA.

 

Rahane ko niggle karwa ke bitha Diya aur chup chap SA series ke liye include Kar liya after India won the series and attention got away from Rahane's personal form.

Apart from Shreyas & Pant not one is <26 year old in the side.  Oldies galore.

This Jayant yadav is same for National team as K goutham for A team. They suddenly pop up and done the national jesy without playing domestic.

No Umran,  Kartik Tyagi Avesh Khan or heck even Porel in the standby list.  Deepak Chahar & Nagwaswalla mysteriously find their way into the squad

That moron Ishant makes it to yet another tour of SA. So many tours overseas to England/Aus/SA but continues to remain mediocre and Indian cricket adores mediocrity.

Plus--

1. Removal of Rahane from VC.  That means he is not perm. member in the X1.

    The only Plus in this selection.

Minus--

1. Retaining Ishant -  it should have been Prasidh /Saini.

2. Retaining Saha -   it should have been Ishan

3.  Jayant Yadav -     Total misfit for SA .  

4. Inconsistency in selection- Members who were in NZ test  Surya , Prasidh should have been continued . 

 

Happy Pujara & Rahane are in this SA tour . This should be make or break final series  for them . If they do not perform exceptionally no more going back to them when India play at home . 

Hope injury to Gill, Axar, Jaddu  are genuine and hence non-selection is justified .

Rahane and Pujara was expected to fly, to cater for injuries and seniority

 

Except for Ishant Sharma, the rest of the squad is by and large Ok

 

Jaddu/Axar will be missed...Jayant Yadav seems to have a bit of support from the selectors

 

Iyer needs to step up and do the Hardik Pandya role of 2018 along with Pant(Counter attacks)
