NameGoesHere Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Why all the crying. Rohit already said he wanted the middle order to prepare for 10/3. This is just 0/ 1 and not a damn ball bowled. Rohit the genius inscrutable sage isn’t injured, just giving tough love to the team. sandeep 1

There's a queue for openers, and Shaw was the incumbent until he got dismantled in the pink ball test. His bad luck that Rohit solidified one opener's slot while he was out due to cough syrup issues, and then Gill grabbed his chance in the Australia tour. As far as the slot for backup openers is concerned, please compare Mayank's performances to Shaw - its not close. Vijy 1
vvvslaxman Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Agarwal joins his dost after 2 years at the top of the order. Hope they make it count.
vvvslaxman Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 So no "come to India" dialogue this time

Good luck with this much vitriol and politics to Indian cricket. Ganguly and Shah are proving to be pathetic administrators. If they cannot control Rohit vs Kohli rivalry very soon, then we are looking at more world cup exits. Now Rohits underperformance in T20 worldcup also looks suspect. Might have done it on purpose to spite Kohli and get Kohli to lose 50 over captaincy too. There was no way Kohli could retain ODI captaincy after losing to Pakistan in a WC with 10 wickets. Even Dhoni would have been sacked with such a performance. I hate Rohit Sharma and his antics as its ruining team India. I guess we can expect Kohli to underperform in ODIs now to spite Rohit. And stupid fans in this forum cheer for Rohit like he is some genius when he has created a rift in the team that looks like will only end after both rohit and kohli get dropped or retire. Lol.

Shaw played just five matches, impressed in three of them. Failed in one match Australia and one in NZ. That's a good success rate. Mayank Agarwal been equally poor in Australia this year, much better overall, similar in NZ, and failed in WI. Most batsmen fail overseas, so did Shaw. He is better choice at home than Gill. Bottomline is, both are HTBs, hard to get out when there is no swing on offer.

Makes no difference if India loses a bilateral. In fact it is a god send opportunity to test younger players in an overseas tour and zero in on deserving players for MO. If baby's birthday is on 11th and he is not playing to celebrate baby's birthday after 19th . Ye nautanki nahi chalne waali. Nautanki jyaada ho to strike back by - let selectors skip him for 2 more one day series - reason need to give newcomers extended opportunities.. - When included in X1 , Play at 5 or 6 - reason all hitters have a go first as we have started playing aggressively . - Rest him in between - reason he is needed for tests. - Do not play against minnows - reason we need him against quality teams After 2-3 series sab kuch line pe aayega . Tab tak Ghamand utra nahi to , apne aap bahar ho jayega. Edited December 14, 2021 by prudent_kreeda sandeep 1

I personally rate Shaw's ceiling as much higher than Mayank's. But IIRC Mayank's put up big runs much more frequently than Shaw has - at FC level, A level and India level. Vijy 1

Doubtful. he seems like the type who will bat better when there's not much lateral movement. he should play at home first Edited December 15, 2021 by Vijy
rollingstoned Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Kohli is just missing a jamodi series and arguably we need to move on from him in that format anyway. Hitman is a big loss for the test series though, without a doubt.

Not saying he should curb it, but might help him gauge his backlift & footwork based on swing

If the wickets are similar as last time around or even anywhere close to it, they should pick 7 batsman because of no Rohit who is the only in form batsman we have overseas.

Yeah i agree. In those pitches you ll bowl for 80 odd overs at a max. So we can afford to play 4 bowlers. Also hanuma can easily bowl 7-8 overs if we need spin in second innings
