Popular Post Austin 3:!6 Posted December 30, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2021 What a remarkable year this has been for Indian cricket in test format. First, the historic series in win in Australia including breaching of the fortress Gabba by chasing down 328 on the last day of the final test to win the series 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Then the juggernaut continues in England where we won in Lords. And now the SA fortress of Centurion is breached with this epic victory Vk1, cowboysfan, AuxiliA and 19 others 8 7 7

Austin 3:!6 Posted December 30, 2021 Author Posted December 30, 2021 Not a great year for our white ball cricket though (T20s) but I wont be much fussed about it. Test cricket is real deal and good to see we are doing well in that format. neel roy and express bowling 2
G_B_ Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 only missing feather was the ICC crown in the test format.... for me it just highlights that India is a very good team but does not have much to show in terms of ICC tournaments. Vijy, Texan, raki05 and 2 others 1 4

I still am sad we couldnt bat 15 more overs either innings in the WTC. Sureshot draw it would have been ( in first innings we would have scored 40 more and nz would have trailed by 5 runs so would have had to chase 180 odd in 40’overs .. and in second innings exactly the same if we batted 15 overs more) raki05, AuxiliA and Austin 3:!6 1 2
cowboysfan Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 best year in indian cricket despite the WTC loss.

kubrickian Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Great to see Indian test team doing well consistently overseas. Huge credit to the fast bowlers. Austin 3:!6 1
Vijy Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Lots of super-memorable wins in tests this yr. great time to be a fan, even despite the big disappointments that arose - WTC final, T20 WC raki05 1
Texan Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Gabba and Centurion were the two big home fortresses that were major achievements for us. Amazing how our bowlers have won these games single-handed for us in a year where the middle order batting in the hands of the most experienced players disappointed. Full marks to Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and Thakur for getting us here. I hope the Centurion win now paves the way for us to win our first Test series in SA. We have been in this situation before (in 2006/07) when we won the first Test in SA and went on to lose the next two, so we need to be grounded and ensure that this win does not get wasted.

The team needs to keep applying pressure and not let their foot off the pedal raki05 1

We were batting first in last test in capetown 2006/7 & scored 414 with Wasim jaffer getting a unbelievable ton in tough conditions.dada tendulkar with commanding 50s.We got a 40 run lead.We then conspired to lose the test.India has never lost a away test match batting first and scoring 400 plus in 45 years. And it happened in that test. ( infact india has only lost 3 tests ever, batting first and scoring 400 plus. 1977 WACA and 1998 3rd test bangalore against Aus) Vijy 1

And had we not dropped Kallis in Cape town 2011.. The dreaded New lands Vijy and neel roy 2

The dreaded New lands in 2006, 2010 and in 2018 - all these 3 series, we had genuine chances to win the series. In both SA and Oz, we have been competitive for a long time. The real issue for us has been NZ and Eng.

But that series in 2010-11 was really for the first time I started watching test cricket passionately. Whole tour is my all time favorite one. I was expecting a miraculous run chase of 400+ on day 5 expecting a Sehwag destruction lmao Vijy 1
