Average of 27-28 isn't great considering type of conditions and batting line up they play with.

Compare that to performance of spinners in overseas matches during same period.

Ashwin has taken wickets at better average and SR than Bumrah in overseas matches in last 2 years

Also worrying is the strike rate. Bumrah's SR is the same as Ashwin a spinner. Spinners typically have a bigger SR.

Manju has produced few good articles on cricinfo & hindustan Times on why Indian bowling failed.

Dravid hinted that lack of height Compared to SA quicks caused few opportunities created...  Which makes it even dumb that they left out Prasidh Krishna for this tour & instead picked him for ODIs.

Manju is the king of negativity.

Indian fans are wrist slitters. One bad game for a cricketer and everything is doomed. Bumrah is expected to take 5-7 wickets every game to seem normal.

Read the stats before and after injury- All we are saying is he has changed from exceptional like Marshall to good like Srinath. That is all. There is a pattern here - you just have to see it. Stats below.

I can do a similar stat analysis for many top players. Can do for Waqar too whom I dont rate at all.

Can do for wasim bhaiyaa.

Can do it philtrundler whom I dont rate either.

You will be surprised even the might rabada has had terrible years post injury. Bumrah is better than him anyway.

Besides booms has to share wickets with other bowlers who are top quality themselves.

Another thing which, I think no one has pointed out yet.  A great bowler will also have off days. He is not expected to pick up wickets in every test.  Fair enough.      But with Bumrah, it's a bit different.  In case of Bumrah, whenever he has an off day, he not only goes wicketless but also ends up leaking runs at very high rate (say 4 RPO) in each of those tests thereby ensuring india definitely loses the test.

There are many great bowlers who have off days, but it's rare to see them leaking runs throughout the inning.  At worst, they will go wicketless.

Yea booms is either on point and destructive or he destroys us if he has a bad day. very weird. He is kind of like akthar like. Either he destroys you or gets destroyed.

Bumrah has to outbowl Ashwin in overseas matches to seem normal.

Bumrah is bound to have bad days just like anyone else. He is only human. What strikes me is we have these trimurthis not scoring for over 2 years but when bumrah and ashwin don't perform for 2 matches, the hammer comes down on them. If trimurthis are held to the same level as the bowlers are, they would be gone in no time.

Losing is fine, but India managed to take only 3 wickets.

240-6 or 240-7 would have been decent effort. There was no contest at all.

They did this In England and Australia Australia. Why waste energy for a losing cause maybe? Reserve that energy and destroy them in the next game. I feel like that was the plan but regardless that was absolutely pathetic by bumrah. He is scary when he is on point but my God he is damn awful when he is off colour.

1) got thrashed for 36 vs Aussies. Guess what happened after? An ass whooping for the arrogant Aussies in the next test. Btw we could have easily won that test too tbh. Aussies very fortunate with dropped catches. Sure they dropped a few of ours at mcg but we would have still scored over 240 ish which would be a easy target to chase in 2nd innings

2) destroyed for 78 vs englsnd. Guess what happened next game. A thrashing for pom ingless vaaiste boys.

3) hopefully same for saffers in the next game.

I want to see a fully fit and firing bumrah shami umesh and thakur. Add In saini too if necessary. Siraj is likely injured.

BTW the mighty wasim akram. These are his stats.

1987- 1990. - average 28

1990-1995 - average 21

1996-2000 - average 27.8

These are just because of couple of really poor matches he had and not a trend

Since WTC for example, he averages 23 in two series, half of sample size in your post injury stats

You cannot make up any conclusion based on such less sample where 1 or 2 matches can skew data

All of our 4 successful pacers of the 2016 to 2020 period .... Bumrah, Shami, Ishant and Umesh .... have lost zip and bounce off the deck from 2021 onwards.

They were regularly hurrying batsmen in those 5 years and not doing so nowadays with that much regularity.

This will invariably lead to off days and off-matches more regularly.

This is the more worrying part IMO.

(   Even spinners become less lethal when they lose zip and bounce. )

Ishant will never regain his zip and bounce after 15 years .... but Bumrah and Shami need to work on this issue.

There should be a stat for measuring impact and pressure. Unfortunately bumrah is not a wicket taker anymore he should be enforcer like Wagner.

Have shami and siraj open. Or siraj and prasidh.

Bring bumrah on to do Wagner like job. He doesn't even need to bowl fast. Just 130 135 and bowl those unsettling bouncers. He can do serious damage and still be rated as a top tier player.

It is there. Atleast in the shorter formats. It is calculated as how many more/less runs the team would have scored if a certain played didn't play. +10 is believed to be a great contribution. Analysts like Cricwiz probably sell this data to boards or media, but most of it isn't publicly available.

Bumrah is 1000 times the bowler Wagner ever will be. To ask Bumrah to bowl like Wagner is idiotic.

Sorry what I meant was bumrah can be as effective as him even on flat pitches if he wants to be. We know he is a generational talent. At times he overthinks things. He just needs to keep it simple. I dint mean to insult bumrah. To me he is every bit as good as Cummins if not more when he is in form. But when he is off colour he has been god awful.

What I mean is if booms isn't suited to open the ball with kookaburra on kiwi or saffer wickets, then he should operate as our first change and just bowl bouncer barrages. He can pick up truck loads of wickets that way all Wagner.

Booms is super deadly on flat bouncy wickets with kookaburra and dukes ball on any pitch basically. He has good performances in sg ball too in ranji and A tours but he will barely got to bowl in India unless he opens the bowling or gets reverse swing later in the day.

Booms has only been poor surprisingly on seaming tracks with kookaburra ball. Perhaps not able to control swing like shami in the past. If he fixes this he can be as deadly as he is with dukes and kookaburra (bouncy pitches).

I am not so sure about the 30+ year Shami either. His pace is also declining and claiming it back will be hard.
